The last few updates have seen profiles blank and the opening log on screen links not working. This is not related to the Snow Leopard / Lion update but happens with both OS. 

Is there a Jira ?

I have fixed it by replacing the file /Applications/Second Life Viewer 2.app/Contents/Resources/app_settings/CA.pem with the same file from a pre 2.8 version viewer (actually the Dolphin viewer, but some have reported it to work with the same file from Kirstens also.

I have the same Profles issue plus Xcites! HUD won't access configure file since has to go to web too.  All seem related to inability to access a web browser.  will try the fix suggested.

Thanks Gavin, that fixed it. In my case I used the file from Kirstans S2.0 viewer.

I have two Mac minis, a 2.26GHz and a brand new 2.4GHz, both Intel Core 2 duos.  VWR 2.8.3, 2.8.2, 2.8.1 and 2.8.0 will NOT log me in.  I CAN log in with LLVWR 1.23, Snowglobe, Firestorm, Phoenix, Kirstens, Rainbow and OnRez.  The JIRA folks told me to check my local network.

I am able to log onto SL with the 2.8.1 viewer. I have never had a log on issue with any V2 viewers. There is a minor issue with shadows on 2.8.1 apart from the everything s fine.

Looking at the Jira, it does look like you have a marginal DSL connection with results in either lag or log in failures ( Different viewers have different requirements in Terms of bandwidth etc). 

Have a look at the knowledge base for network issues. It maybe your ISP is restricting the bandwidth available for SL.

Does VWR 2 need that much more bandwidth than any other viewer?  VWR 2 is the only viewer that won't log in.
