Question

this problem has only cropped up since i bought a new pc.

basically what happens is.. every time i TP into a region i've not been to before, i ALWAYS have to relog.

after a few moments of landing in a new sim, i won't be able to move my avatar.  i won't see any other avatars move.  but i can still IM, sometimes still talk in local chat, textures will continue to rez, but then... eventually i'll get kicked off SL like my internet connection dropped (screen turns gray and it'll tell me to View IM & Chat or Quit SL).  one relog usually fixes it and i can explore, rez, whatever in the new sim okay.  sometimes, though, it'll take two or even three relogs before i can function in a new region without it getting stuck and booting me off like my internet goes down.  however, my internet is fine and stable and not intermittent, and my computer handles SL just fine on ultra with no issues with lag.

this has happened on every viewer i've used -- kirsten's, firestorm and LL's viewer.  and this has only happened on my newer, more powerful computer.  this never happened on my older computer.

is it a bandwidth/internet issue?  i currently have DSL and as i said, i've never had this issue before with my older computer.  doing a speed test says my download speed is 2.87 mbps.. is this not enough?

or is there some setting i'm not adjusting in the viewers that will make this stop?  it's very annoying when sim-hopping, exploring, shopping, etc.. because every time i visit some place new, i have to relog (sometimes multiple times) to be able to move around.

Have you checked your firewall/router?  Reboot your router.

Under 3mbps is very very low so you may wish to get more bandwidth.  At least 7mbps.  More is generally always better.

With a new, more powerful computer, you are cheating it if you limit it to low bandwidth.
