Question

When I talk with my friend on private voice chat, he hears me fine, but I hear an annoying echo of my own voice 3 seconds later.  I use earphones and a built-in microphone at the top of my laptop screen.  My operating system is Windows 7, and I am using the latest version of SL Viewer 2.6.

Can I just adjust some settings to resolve this problem, or do I need to use a headset?  Thanks!

When I do use voice, I use a mic and with wall speakers. If the volume setting for the speakers is too high I get and echo.

I don't have any experience with microphones built into a laptop.

I cannot recall any recent echo related questions being asked here at the forum.

You could try Lowering you Mic volume but again that is only a problem when the mic can pick up and repeats sounds from the speakers.

You could look for a Product review rating for your laptops microphone.

If you can afford an external mic you should consider getting one.
