Question

Hi,

I've been successfully using another viewer for a while now and I don't think that I changed anything on my system (everything worked fine when I last logged in a few days ago).
However, since today, any time that I try to launch the viewer, regardless of alternative or the official one, it does not start. Instead I get a popup about Can't activate GL rendering context

After confirming the popup there is a brief message: Graphics initialization failed. Please update your graphics driver!

So I installed the latest drivers. I even removed (renamed) the SecondLife folders in AppData/Local and AppData/Roaming and restarted. Nothing helped.

System specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
AMD Radeon RX 480
MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
64GB RAM
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 18363)
2 Displays (1920x1200 32-bit, 1920x1080 32-bit)

Any tips on what else I could try?

Turns out, the more recent AMD drivers don't work (at least not for me). I downgraded all the way back to 20.9.1 from 2020-09-29 and now it's working again.
I'm not sure if this is an AMD or SL issue, but it means that I have to decide between SL and modern games.

It seems from other threads here, the update on AMD has caused other issues with SL.  I would suggest filing a jira about your problem so LL is aware.  The other issue was causing everything to render blue.  There is a jira currently open on that.
