FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAVING THROW WELCOMES GAMERS TO ITS FIRST
TABLETOP CHARITY EVENT

Event proceeds will benefit Team Fox and The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

[SECOND LIFE GRID®, September 14, 2020] — Today, Saving Throw Charity Events Inc. welcomes residents of the Second Life Grid® and beyond to the first of its planned quarterly tabletop gaming events, taking place from Friday, September 18 at 4pm to Sunday, September 27 at 9pm at the StudioDire Tabletop Hall on the Titian region (SURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Titian/33/169/1026).

The Event features over seven exhibitors and sponsors, 47 hours of programming, including roleplaying games, dice and board games, seminars and presentations, a “fund-a-need” event, a costume (cosplay) contest, and much more. The event is sponsored by StudioDire, Mini A Chuu, Coghaven, and The Virtual Tabletop Gaming Society.

The event works with Creations for Parkinsons, and Team Fox of Second Life® to ensure that proceeds from the event are 100 percent forwarded to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research through Linden Labs, part of Linden Research Inc.

Barbie Alchemi is owner of Creations Park, a population destination on the grid where residents can explore and partake in a variety of activities. Alchemi’s real life dad died with Parkinson’s and their mother, Fran Seranade, recently passed away with the same disease. At "92 Years Young”, she was an active and beloved resident in Second Life®. For the past several years, Creations Park had organized periodic events that fundraised for Team Fox.

About Saving Throw Charity Events Inc.

Saving Throw Charity Events Inc. (STCE) is the organization behind the Saving Throw event. The organization seeks to create charity tabletop gaming events while highlighting worthy charities that may not have had much exposure on the Second Life Grid®. They do this by working directly with the charity, or with a close partner so that all monies go directly to where it is needed most.

About Team Fox

Team Fox is the grassroots fundraising branch of the Michael J. Fox Foundation. All their overhead and expenses are anonymously covered so that 100% raised by Team Fox is passed on to the Michael J Fox Foundation who then determines the most promising research into finding a cure for Parkinson’s.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation has the highest rating by Charity Navigator. They keep their overhead exceptionally low, with the highest amount going directly to the best research. Their commitment is to find a cure not only to find more expensive medicine or treatments.

About The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

As the world’s largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research, The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to accelerating a cure for Parkinson’s disease and improved therapies for those living with the condition today. The Foundation pursues its goals through an aggressively funded, highly targeted research program coupled with active global engagement of scientists, Parkinson’s patients, business leaders, clinical trial participants, donors and volunteers. In addition to funding more than $900 million in research to date, the Foundation has fundamentally altered the trajectory of progress toward a cure. Operating at the hub of worldwide Parkinson’s research, the Foundation forges groundbreaking collaborations with industry leaders, academic scientists and government research funders; increases the flow of participants into Parkinson’s disease clinical trials with its online tool, Fox Trial Finder; promotes Parkinson’s awareness through high-profile advocacy, events and outreach; and coordinates the grassroots involvement of thousands of Team Fox members around the world.
