Cannot wear skin

Hi all

I'm sorry if this subject has been raised before, or if I have posted it in the wrong section.

Basically having registered seven years ago but never really exploring SL, I decided to give it another go.  I set up a basic avatar from those offered and decided to purchase a Taraq James skin.  However, whenever I try to wear it a large advertising box appears obscuring my head with the name of the skin on it.  It simply looks like I am an advertising board walking around with a body (well, some of it) but no head.

Could anyone please offer some advice?  It is very frustrating and I am very quickly been put off what has, so far been a very enjoyable experience.  Everyone I have met in SL so far have been very helpful and friendly.

Most products in SL are sold as a "package."

Different people use different names of them, usually just "box/boxed" or "unpacker." There are also different kinds of packages -- some will unpack themselves when you wear them, others you have to click on, others you have to rez on the ground.

The most likely way to unpack the thing you bought, is to go somewhere where you're allowed to rez objects (like a sandbox) and drag the box onto the ground. Then, right-click on that box and select "Open" and "Copy to inventory." Now you should have a folder in your inventory with the same name as the box, with the actual products inside.

Thank you Wulfie Reanimator!  You are exactly the kind of helpful and friendly person I was referring to.  I have just tried exactly what you suggested by visiting a sandbox (I had no idea what that was before!) and it worked perfectly!

Beginning to love SL once again.  I really appreciate your advice.  Thank you!
