It is still possible to buy linden in V2.  However you do need to be in Advanced mode and not the badly crippled Basic setting.

If you live outside the USA, you currently can't buy L$ in any viewer. I have my doubts that this will ever be enabled again.

Linden Lab has added new payment options for international customers recently (and removed PayPal), which are handled by local third party payment processors. Their payment plugins are integrated with the Second Life website / dashboard, but not with the viewer software as of yet. Which means that you can only buy L$ on the SL website for now.

On the plus side, you will likely find a number of new payment options depending on your country, such as online bank transfer or direct debit.
