Hello,

me and a friend (who is 3D designer) we are trying to create shoes for mesh bodies such as maitreya and others.

we are facing the following issue, the shoes have some straps, when the avatar is fixed (no moving) she shoes look fine, but when the avatar start moving, the straps go inside body or skin.

i told my friend he need to rig those straps, he tells me that he need to "wrap" the straps

i asked what is that "wrap", he tells its a way to tell straps to follow the mesh body surface so its not go inside it

this point is not clear for us, how to acheive this "wrap" method ?

if someone can help us about this, would be great

thenk you !

Wrapping a mesh to another mesh means that it will follow the mesh it is wrapped to. However, for Second Life purposes this wrapped mesh has to be converted into a skinned/rigged mesh. Which means that it follows the avatars skeleton bones rather than the avatars mesh.

How that is done in detail depends on the software indeed.

thanks for your reply

my friend is using maya im not sure, will ask him

also i think he rigged on avatar skeleton, not sure about it, will ask him.

but still something we do not understand, let say an example, maitreya mesh body

he sculpted the shoes, but those straps move as the shoes move, so they go inside the body

how to make those starps move alone not with all the shoes depending on leg movement ?

all shoes that are made for maitreya and have straps thats move alone and follow the leg surface

something is missing in our process ?

do maitreya need supply us something for acheiving the rigging ?

or he can just rigg in some manners thats will make straps follow the mesh body no matter what is this body ?

or maybe he just need rigg each moving strap to the standard skeleton and thats it ?

as this happens in other shoes i beleive there is something we are missing

The shoe would be weighted to the mAnkle* bone and the straps to the mKnee* bone. And/Or the *_FOOT, *_LOWER_LEG bones. The tricky part will be the transition where the straps are connected to the shoe.

I'm sorry I don't know anything about these mesh bodys, and what is required to build for them. :matte-motes-bashful-cute:
