llHTTPRequest seems to fail constantly

I scripted an advertention system wich gets the advertentions from an internet website (mediaboard.comxa.com). This worked fine for a couple of days, but now it seems to fail every time. I keep getting a 499 error every time.

The URL is accessible using my web browser, and loads in about 2 seconds while I've got a rather slow internet connection, so I don't think it really is a timeout error (though the wiki said 499 is a timeout error).

Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Is the URL to the website blocked by SL or something? Or should I find the problem at the web host?

Make sure your URL is formatted correctly (see the wiki.) Escape it, and make sure there's a slash between the URL and any query parameters you're sending.

What do you mean by a slash between the parameters? I llEscapeURL'ed the parameters, but it still doesn't work.

Sorry, I was thinking of http-in, where the caveats on the wiki page say:

 

The following applies when making a request to a script using HTTP-In:

• When appending a query string to a cap URL there MUST be a  trailing slash between the cap guid and the query string token '?'. IE https://sim123.agni.lindenlab.com/cap/f23b4b94-012d-44f2-bd0c-16c328321221?arg=gra will return an HTTP 500, but https://sim123.agni.lindenlab.com/cap/f23b4b94-012d-44f2-bd0c-16c328321221/?arg=gra will succeed.

But since you're sending out, I guess that wouldn't apply. The same page says you'll get a 499 error if there are any spaces or if the URL times out. It sounds like you already knew that, though. I'm not sure what else could cause it. The only thing I can think of is that your browser is managing the connection much faster than SL. Maybe SL is timing out due to other internal traffic or something similar.

Turns out it was the slash after all, I added it to the URL and it works like a charm

Okay, it worked fine for a few hours, but now I get the same error again. Weird. Anybody has a solution to this one too?

Belated BUMP - Any futher insights into this issue? I have two separate scripts that started failing around the same time of the original post, same error 499.
