Why does a black window with text inside it open when I start Second Life?

Can someone tell me how to get rid of the black box that opens when I start Second Life?

You may have the Console Window enabled. It shows diagnostic  technical information which can be used for debugging purposes. If  that's not important to you, then you don't need it.

However: Don't just close the Console Window by clicking on the X! That will close the Second Life window, too.

In the Second Life window, open the Advanced menu and deselect the Console Window option. Then restart Second Life to get rid of it
