How do I move the separate parts of my boat all at once?

I need to move a boat, but the mast and sail seem to be separate from the rest of it. How can I move them all at once, using the edit tool?

Tate, what you want to do, is click on the main part of the boat, or the largest single part and go into edit mode. While it is highlighted, hold down your "shift" key, and select all of the other parts of the boat, making sure they are all highlighted as well. Once ALL parts are highlighted, they will move as a group.

Hi,

I have a few boats that seem to be in separate parts, too, but apparently they're set up that way intentionally.  It has something to do with the boats being able to cross sims with more ease.  If I click on the main part and move it, when I'm done, eventually the other parts follow.  The few times that the parts haven't quite followed in an orderly way (ha!), I've taken it all back into inventory and then rezzed it again.  Your boat should have come with a notecard explaining how this works if this is the case with yours.

You might wish to read about the differences between hard-linking and soft-linking.  You are describing soft-linking regarding your boat.
