Requesting Rejion Capabilities

Okay, when I login to SL it gets to the point where it is Requesting Region Capabilities it takes 3 attempts before it will continue to load. When it has loaded I am at my house, but can not see any of my friends on line, can not open a IM with any of them, I can not move to other places, a friend sent me an IM so I guess they can see me online, but the name on the IM was TestString PleaseIgnore. What the heck is going on?

Also this happens with the SL viewer and the Firestorm_X64 viewer.

Have you tried logging in at a different region? Each "requesting region capabilities" request reduces the amount of information the viewer tries to get from the simulator, and after the first  one things like what you're seeing will happen. It may be limited to your home/last region and could be fine on other regions. If it works alright on other regions you should try to get a restart for your home region.
