IM beeps

I do not get a beep when someone sends me an IM anymore...used to.  Cant find any settings in Pref to change it.  I have all vol bars up and I get clicks for other UI sounds like close/open windows.  All other music media etc works fine...only IM beeps don't.  The only thing I have done lately is use voice and was able to get it all to work.  Now no IM beeps.     any suggestions?

You won't get IM beeps if

1. you are in Busy mode
2. you are already in IM with that individual/group (i.e. have communication tab open, whether minimized or not, with that individual/group).

 

If neither of these is the case then I suggest, like Ann, that you re-install the viewer - it may have got it into its head that you are already in IM or busy and stuck there.

thanks...yes u only get beep on the first IM ........if the comm window isnt closed u dont get beep....duhhhh......mystery solved....thanks  :-)

NP - the pingy thingies annoy me so I had to work out how best to stop them
