If I properly understand what you're trying to do, it's something I do and it's very easy indeed.

Request animation permissions when the cup is attached, and, when they're automatically granted, start playing the holding anim (which I hope you've uploaded as a looping one).   At the same time, start a timer event firing every 15 seconds and, when that fires, generate a random number.   If it's odd, play the sipping anim.   

That gives a pretty good effect.
