Hi, been googling for hours and getting nowhere :(

All I want to do is cut a simple shape into a face of a prim, ie lets say the back of a chair and I want a heart shape there ? or a simple flower pattern?

Its easy enough to cut a round or square, but what if you have a specific design in mind that you want to cut out ?

Hope you can help :)

In recent bledner versions there is knife cut...:

  • in edit mode, press "k",
  • then repeatedly cut along where you want the hole by setting markers with the left mouse.
  • ensure that the last marker is set "on top of" the first marker to create a closed cut
  • finally press RETURN key.

If your cut did not pass across any edge, then your hole is automatically created. Otherwise the "hole" is filled by an ngon. you might need to delete that ngon then.

And finally triangulate the surface to get rid of the ngons.
