Not receiving any messages from scripted objects

Hi folks,

I am not receiving any messages sent to me from scripted objects. I have tried everything from llSay, llOwnerSay, to llInstantMessage -- even the default script that comes when you 'Create New Script' on a new object.  I have no block list, no objects of any kind blocked, my settings do not prevent me from receiving messages, I checked that the script is running.

I'm at a loss, I'd be grateful if anyone could toss out further suggestions..

Is the script running?
Are running scripts allowed on the land you are on?
How do you know it is actually sending something?

Good points, thought I had checked everything but apparently I was in a no-scripting sandbox area. Admittedly I had not done anything in SL since 2007, the area I was in used to be ok for testing scripts. Apologies for wasting time, but thanks for replying. Now I need to find some good areas to test scripts...
