If you specific in your preferences that you want to receive IM's via email when offline, you can receive and respond to messages using your email client software.

Trick 1) - remember to delete the text of the message you are responding to if it is automatically included in your reply - Why? You have a limit on the size of your reply of 1024 characters as I recall. [Note: This message size limit needs verification]
