I've run into an odd problem with media on a prim. Almost all the sites I've tried work fine, but for some reason Twitter isn't working right. The page loads briefly and then disappears.

I've tried http:/twitter.com as well as the https:// variety. I've tried scripting it using llSetLinkMedia() -- the behavior is the same, and no error is returned.

Here's the really weird thing: if I go directly to a specific user's page -- say https://twitter.com/slofficehours -- it works. What's more, I can then navigate to the home page without problems.

Is this a known problem, and is so, are there any known workarounds?

Thanks,
Cain

I tested for the problem you described and did not find it.  I set the web page by drag and drop the url onto the prim.  My personal twitter page loaded on the prim and has stayed for more than 10 min.   It even recovered when rezzed from inventory.

It does go away when my avatar in not near it, but it reloads when the avatar comes back  or when I focus on it.  The reload can take a bit of time and might lead one to think that it is not working.  This is normal behavior.  The delay can be quite long if there are several BOPs nearby and in view.

The bop I made is https for my account. so I can't send it to you as an example.  If you have some http page you want me to test, send me the url in a notecard inworld and I will try it and send you the prim if it works.

Thanks for the reply.

I too can load individual pages, such as my own page. The problem is with the home page, i.e. http://twitter.com. Are you able to repro the problem with that URL?

I am aware that reloading sometimes takes a while, but in this case the page loads and the vanishes in a second or so, leaving just plywood to look at.

Yes, I can repro that problem with the sign in page

 http://twitter.com.

but not with the about or help page.

The problem seems to be specific to that page, not a general problem.  My guess is that the sign-in page is detecting some condition -- perhaps an indication of inadequate security--that causes it to close rather than to permit sign in.  I have never made a BOP from a sign-in page, before, so have no prior experience with that type of page.  I will probably see if it happens with other sign-in pages when  I have time

I have worked with BOPS since before they went public, and have never heard of this problem before -- that is why I am interested in understanding it.
