datasmithfc
Hi everyone. Totally new here. GF tells me that she got started designing by using a sandbox. Simple question - How do I access one to get started on an experimental design? And does it allow scripting?Just have Basic membership. Want to see how designing works in here before investing in land. Thanks for any help.BigDaddy
Echo Hermit
Welcome, datasmithfc (BigDaddy), to Second Life and to Second Life forums. When you are inworld, make use of the Search facility and look up the keyword of Sandbox. This will give you many Sandbox options. (Tip: choose a sandbox that is not at the top of the list, and this will be quieter, to give you more space and privacy for your experimenting. Some sandboxes do allow scripting. Some do not. To know this, you can click your mouse against the land details at the top of the screen when you in a sim, and more information about the sim will pop up for you to see.) Ciaran Laval
There's information about sandboxes on the Wiki; http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Building-tips/ta-p/700041#Section_.3.1 Another option to consider is using the beta grid, bearing in mind that what happens on the beta grid stays on the beta grid, what you make there won't be in your inventory on the main grid but it does have the advantage of allowing you to test at no cost. There are a couple of levers you need to pull to gain access, details here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Beta_Grid
