Blender endless knot fail?

Hi people, I need some help here, I'm following this tutorial :

but I can't edit it has in on the video, I don't get a uniform tube, when I try to bend it it gets flat!

I've been playing whit some of curve surface options but no result, any ideas?

Yea I am using 2.63 and tried to follow that tutorial and do not get the same results. I even get different results than you. Obviously i am missing something also.  I dont like following tutorials that dont use screen cast to show what keys or buttons they have pressed

Make sure the object centers (pink dots) of both the mesh and the path are at the same global location. (Object mode: Object->Transform properties:check LocX, LocY, LocZ; easiest to set them all to 0.) Not having them identical causes horrible distortions, although I have no idea if that is the problem here.
