Why can't I move an object from my inventory list to a specific location in my house?

I am trying to place an object in my house from my inventory list, but I get the pop-up that says Can't rez because the owner of the land does not allow it.  As owner of the house, am I not supposed to be able to furnish my house?  Thank you for your help.

Did you rent the land your house is on? Maybe you just forgot to activate the correct group before trying to rez the object.

You may be trying to rez an object over your prims limits. Check your prim count. About land > objects.
