received item button has disappeared from inventory

I tried a demo skin, and the next thing i knew the received items button at the bottom of my inventory had disappeaared.  I have tried a reset and a clean instal but nothing.  I have compared the preferences against another avi account and they are all the same, yet the other avi has the received item button.  It means that when i buy something it is disappearing.  This is only happening i firestorm though, if i log in SL viewer the inventory is back to normal.  Can someone please help?
