Increasing Prims in my Linden Account Home

Can I increase my prims in my Linden Account Home? Even if I am willing to pay for the extra prims?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to increase the number of prims availabe in your Linden Home.  The number of prims is based on the size of the land parcel.  So, the only way to increase the number of prims available is to get a larger parcel of land.  There are several options for doing that - you can buy your own parcel on the mainland, you can rent a parcel on the mainland, or you can rent from a private estate.  If you abandon your Linden home and buy on the mainland, you will get 512 m of tier free (so if you bought a 1024 m parcel, you would pay tier at the 512 m level).

There is a free class about buying land offered at Caledon Oxbridge on Fridays at 5 pm SLT.  That is a very worthwhile class to get a better understanding about how land works here in SL. 

 

ETA:  While there is a set number of prims per meter of land (I forget the exact formula) for common parcel sizes it works out as:

512 m2 - 117 prims

1024 m2 - 234 prims

2048 m2 - 468 prims

4096 m2 -  937 prims

8192 m2 - 1875 prims

If you rent, though, the number of prims available may differ.  If a land owner owns multiple parcels in the same region, the land owner shares the total prims across all the parcels owned, so can allocate them differently.  Also, some land owners that rent parcels with houses on them and/or that are landscaped, generally offer the rental with a smaller amount of prims to take into account prims used by the house and/or landscape or common areas for their renters.
