Aloha! The Cannery is Second Life's newest social café and watering hole, occupying a cozy corner of our spectacular and lush Hawai'ian island. Like the legendary Catcher in the Pie (once on this same island), and Open Latte at Mill Pond, among others, it is a gathering place for interesting and fun people, appealing to mind and soul. Open to all, and always open, we feature art and music, poetry and literature readings, discussions, trivia nights, and even plan a film festival featuring SL shorts. Prepare to spend hours on the waterside, in the bistro or wandering the grounds. Currently we're hiring hosts and DJs. Hosts are encouraged to be well-rounded, outgoing characters in their own right, with a knowledge of cultures and languages that will help them greet our guests from all over the world. Enjoy people--really. That's all. Experience and motivation in creating and promoting events a huge plus. For the right person this could be a great opportunity. We're also looking for DJs who can commit to a regular weekly schedule of some sort for 1-2 hours of spinning. Though the island is Hawai'ian themed, the music need not be--we're really interested in a broad and deep catalogue of aural eccentricities. DJs should have something eclectic and thematic to offer, as we are a departure from the run-of-the-mill, and so should you be--in other words, no Top 40 music, creative themed set lists, and a fun attitude are musts! PERSONALITY!! You should have it, and be comfortable with following the vibe of the audience and interacting with them on stream.
