  1. For personal reasons, I have most of my profile locked down to friends only. This includes those who can see my SL feed and add me as a friend/follow me. It also includes the in-world "only friends can see I'm online" options in preferences under "privacy". However, with the recent introduction of Second Life feeds, these settings seem to no longer be enough. Anyone can now seek out your my.secondlife page and see that you're online via the green dot that appears next to your name and kindly states "online" when hovered over. I see this as a complete bypass of any privacy settings in place by the user and totally unfair. Is there a way to make this annoying green dot go away for anyone other than your friends, or are LL really lazy enough to not see this as contractory to any privacy settings? I was told that if you go to the settings button in the feeds and look under the "permissions" tab, you can turn off who can see the green dot. Said "permissions" tab does not exist.
  2. I just got my brand new 560 Ti and I'm very much enjoying wondering Second Life with shadows and projectors, however I am yet to be REALLY impressed. I'm told projectors can be amazing if used properly. So I'm wondering if anyone could refer me to any sims they know of that really make use of shadows and projectors in unique, amazing ways?
  3. Like someone previously said, I would avoid the rest of the specs this person is building for you as they are probably overcharging you. As of 2012, you don't want anything less than DDR3 RAM. I can't comment much on motherboard but you could do with an iSomething from Intel or an AMD bulldozer. Graphics card is fine as long as you have an adequate power supply and if you get the DirectCUII version from Asus, cooling won't be a problem.
  4. Thank you for your reply. Sorry for missing out my system specs, I wrote that last night and wasn't really thinking. They are as follows: AMD Bulldozer FX4100 @ 3.6GHz 16GB DDR3 RAM My old card was a Nvidia GeForce 8600GT (Yeah, I know right ) My PSU is a Corsair Gamer series at 600w, so will handle the card fine. Plus, it has two PCI power connectors which can be either 6 or 8 pin. The second comment on this thread seems to have disappeared but they were saying a 480 has higher performance than a 560? Does this mean I'd get higher FPS in Second Life with a 480? I've never understood Nvidia's backwards numbering system. Also, I went a friend's house recently and played Second Life with his GeForce 460. It actually handled SL really well. Practically no noticeable FPS drop.
  5. For as long as I can remember, I've had odd rezzing issues in my friend's residential sim. If I log out standing in her house, I'll be logged in standing in the centre of the sim and falling. Without fail. Even teleporting into the sim does it. My friend told me it's probably a glitch, but it's becoming frustrating. Any known way of fixing this?
  6. I know this question must have been posted a trillion times and I apologise for forcing it upon yourselves again. However, I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card very soon to a GPU that will allow me to run Second Life in ultra mode with full shadows and achieve reasonably high FPS. Due to financial barriers, I'm looking around the price point of a Nvidia GeForce 560 DirectCUII. However, its more intelligent twin, the 560 Ti is said to be slightly faster but also slightly more expensive and sadly too expensive for me. So, my question is, will I be alright with the standard 560 and not the Ti in Second Life?
