it's the one where you go up against it, you can't click on it it just is a ruler. I recounted my height checkers, I have 4 instead of 3 I'll show you a photo

    c2811b39f0f4fc955701adfd3dce11be.jpg

The first one height has me as (far left)
[15:28] Exact Height/SL Viewer Apperance Mode: Starberry Passion is 1.681180 m (5 ft. 6in.) tall. (counting shoes) - Prim Height

The second, second one, the red and white ruler has me as
[15:29] [OO] Avatar ruler 1.4: Starberry Passion, your avatar's height is 160 cm (5' 3") counting your shoes.

The third one is a height and script checker, this one is the one that takes a lot off of the avatar.
[15:30] height and script checker V2.1: < Starɓɛrrɣ Ɖɔllƒiɛ > (includes shoes) - i don't use shoe height-
[15:30] height and script checker V2.1: Height in Shape Editor: 1.40 m (4 feet 7 inches)

the forth one I am 170cms which is 5'5"

Thank you kindly for taking the time to do that. I wish I could find the one that translates the meter bug, but stuff disappears from the grid.

Those sound on the surface a lot like opinions.

And inaccurate. Kemono can have larger breasts. There are mods for that. Part of why Kemono is so popular with some people (as I'd bet you might know, Love) is the modding factor. You have a base and so many ways to play with it. It's even sold with modify rights so you can do your own texturing. With a more standard-looking head and the right mods, I know there are people who'd normally believe Kemono are inherently child-like in appearance who'd find one perfectly adult-looking. The avi I mentioned with mosquito-sting breasts had to choose those, too.

You can stop talking to me, I have that red ruler, I have exact height ruler, I have the a scale ruler, And then there is the firestorm height and then there is the Second Life height, which is different than the firestorm height.

I use three rulers all the time on my sim to compare it with edit appearance height. This is the last time I will reply to you, you do nothing but insult people.

Digression moment... you have the scale ruler? Is that the one that takes the 1.3 RL meters = 1 SL meter into account? Or what does it do?

I wouldn't say it is accurate it's not people would go by different rulers and measurements of height. The red and white ruler isn't the only standard and most people just use the Firestorm height.

You want people to believe you're being intelligent in this discussion when you can't keep track of your own words.

Im sorry to say if you can't tell the difference between adult and child then you have issues a height meter isn't always accurate.

I've seen three different height meters in my time in SL. Two are still pretty common and rely on different standards for avatar height. A third actually took the problem of SL vs RL meters into account. All were accurate to their method of calculation.

The sky certainly has lowered for all which explains why SL can't retain new users if their life depended on it, which it does in the long term. This new ruling will not do anything to increase the retention rate as it is just leaving everyone in the dark about what constitutes underaged avatars.

Stop trying to speak for everyone, please.

    Childlike means this
(of an adult) having the good qualities, such as innocence, associated with a child.
"she speaks with a childlike directness" this this can refer to someone who is a grown man or woman cuteness does not always equate to child I can never understand why  some people discriminate on the basis of looks.

Words have more than one meaning, especially when dealing with context-based situations. You're being deliberately naive here.

Individually and in some cases Groups, SL has ended for thousands. For those who remain, hanging on is an exercise in white knuckling.

For you, maybe. I'm still thriving and happy 16+ years later.

If you are talking technicalities the club could have banned the avatar based on the fact they didn't like the earrings they were wearing. Nope, don't like it. BANNED.

Landowners can ban you for any reason they want.

Truth. Different club I worked for (furry and BDSM) banned avatars based on children's toys just to make absolute sure they weren't courting a false AR. Owner was buying into a SL legend about what constituted a violation, but he was still within his rights. He kicked out a bunch of MLP avis once and was deeply annoyed at the leader of the group's attitude about it. I razzed him about his policy and the event good-naturedly once when they staged a "best in toy" contest and I showed up in a MLP-based furry avatar. I was an adult avi based on human biological standards (ignoring the marshmallow pony aspects). He still almost kicked me out for it (and may have meant it). Half the room and I made him see reason. I'd comment on how he got back at me for it, but this isn't that kind of forum. I knew the job was dangerous when I took it. 😂

Then again Anime styled avatar's seen to get hated on a lot unfortunately People have been falsely banned for ***** before.

That one can be misunderstood. Granted, so many anime characters are middle or high-school students that it isn't helpful to those who wish to echo that look. People with partial knowledge and a low desire to learn more become armchair experts about what it takes to look like an adult in anime style and the fauxtrage begins. I also know it's possible to look anime-style and adult without using more conventionally Western anatomy.

I will also never forget staring at a Kemono-type avi at a BDSM club I DJed at for a while who I was told was OK with management. She had mosquito-bite breasts and no waistline. I was built like that once. I was 12. I've seen p0rn with Asian women who were over 18 and slim. Also Western women who were of roughly similar builds. You can tell the difference between AA-cup adults and pre-pubescents whose adult cup size is as-yet undetermined in a moment. The management bought her line of BS. File that under "part of why I quit."

  10. Favorite Christmas song: O Holy Night for religious songs (In Dulce Jubilo is right up there, though!), Dropkick Murphys' "The Season's Upon Us" for secular/modern.

Least favorite: "Mary, Did You Know." The existence of this song angers me. It reminds me of everything wrong with certain branches of Christianity. Did Mary know her firstborn child was going to become a Really Big Deal? Are there Bibles published for the Christianists that omit the Gospel according to Luke? Seriously. If you believe the Bible is the true and inerrant Word of God, the section about how an angel visited Mary and told her God wanted her to give birth to His son on earth ought to tell you that maybe, JUST MAYBE, she knew. "The Christmas Shoes" is close to MDYK in my hate list for other reasons.

Favorite Christmas movie: Muppet Christmas Carol or The Christmas Chronicles
Least favorite: The Christmas That Almost Wasn't or Miracle on 34th Street

  11. As someone who's stuck on slow-as-feck DSL, the cloud migration has really been a blessing to me when I think about it. I am seeing people and items load faster on some sims, including my mainland parcel. I do need to get upgraded for reasons inside and outside SL, but for now, it's not as painful for me as it was by an order of magnitude.

Weird things I've seen? Aside from the server URL including secondlife.io? Not much.

"So again I reiterate, being able to shrug and move on isn't taught enough anymore, because we're too busy coddling people and telling them that they're the most special and everyone has to like them or risk being cancelled!"

This belief that we used to have thicker skins is patent nonsense. Offensive words and actions have been offensive a lot longer than you've been alive (or me, for that matter). What you're seeing is the people who are under assault stepping up and telling people they won't take it anymore. Moreover, you're seeing them being noticed instead of ignored or worse. Black people in the USA did not just shrug and move on under Jim Crow or the race riots whites perpetrated against them. They felt it all, from "never meet a white person's gaze straight on" to "A twelve-year-old got beaten and lynched because a white girl said he touched her." And don't get me started about how they felt being slaves. Or how there were abolitionists writing to protest the whole thing long before the Civil War.

When an idea exists, so does its opposite and variations on the baselines of each. There is nothing new about hating racism or misogyny or any other system of oppression you want to name. This is novel news to some folks, I know. But they really insist on being coddled and told the world was perfect before the annoying people started reminding them they were fed a line of crap about how the world works.

As for how that applies in SL? Honestly, I'm broader in tolerance than I am in RL over this stuff. I'd want a KKK sim shut down so fast it'd collapse their hoods. Nothing good comes from them. So many sims are white avis only by tradition and momentum that encoding it would merely be a red flag to a bull, though. People of traditionally oppressed groups setting up their own spaces in SL? Sure, go for it, no average user has to be able to go everywhere on the grid. Filtering for avatar type (i.e., furries)? It really does matter for atmosphere. An all-comers formal ballroom would be fun if it doesn't exist already. But folks like Frank's Place VIPs pay a ridiculous amount of money to gain access to a specific atmosphere. I don't want to see avatars breaking the rules there. It's not what you signed up for when you threw them the Ls. This applies as much to showing up in casual wear as it does to showing up in a Jomo avatar.

Just because you and I don't agree, doesn't necessarily make the other wrong.  Everyone is entitled to their OPINION.  Sadly, even bigots and racists.

I side with Harlan Ellison on this one. Everyone is entitled to an INFORMED opinion. Nobody is entitled to be ignorant. And ignorant people deserve to be shouted down. If we leave them alone and treat their opinions with as much weight as anyone else's, we get a lot of the crap RL is facing.

  13. My pet peeve today is people who profess beliefs or training that would suggest they understand people are connected to various degrees simply by co-existing and talking like such rugged individualists I'm amazed they don't go off-grid and whinge about their shipping container tiny homes on manually typed 'zine pages. Of course, that would mean they couldn't spread their idea of the gospel truth to as many people as possible, so sacrifices must be made in the name of preaching.

/me softly sings a Carly Simon song as she steps back for the next peever.

  14. My principal look is loosely based on my RL face. The body is idealized but not skinny. Also taller than me, but I like the balance and proportions I have. I'm also roughly the same ethnicity in appearance. I am pale as fsck in RL and I've never been comfortable with wearing tanned skin. The closest I ever diverged from that was when I wore a DrLife skin that was based on someone who was half-white and half-Japanese. My hair has varied. I used to wear any dang color I felt like. Then I standardized on brunette. Switched around a couple of times before landing on my current blue-black/jet hair bias.

The one thing I've wanted to match my RL that took years for me to find was my eye color. Trichromatic green (gray outer rim, gold-brown inner) was unfindable for years. I flitted around colors until I found the first good version of that eye pattern.

  15. Lysana has been a constant name for me online since BBS days. It's a respelling of Lisanna. I thought it was pretty to merge Lisa and Anna and found out much later that, inevitably, I'd been beaten to that punch a long time ago. I got here and wanted a last name of something resembling Irish origins. I had to laugh when I found out it was in the DB because of Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Tricia McMillan, AKA Trillian).
