I'm getting about the same FPS as you, starting at around 44 then drops down to about 12 or even lower at times. It depends on the location and how many ppl around. I'm a casual user/resident as well so I don't go in as often as i used to. I still have to find the optimum settings for this and will probably switch to Black Dragon viewer or Firestorm.

Just got my M1 Pro 14" with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD storage. It's sunning the default SL viewer pretty smoothly compared to the older MBP 15" (2017). I have also not heard the fan go while running the viewer and it does not drain my battery as much. I'm very pleased with this one.
