  1. I have raised a ticket, but not fully convinced they will properly look into it (I could be wrong) unless I can make a compelling case. Hence this topic.
  2. Hi, I am a little confused about VAT fees still being applied by LL to users residing in the UK and I'm hoping someone can clarify what the situation should be in respect to this. The page below states: "Currently, only Residents who live in the European Union are charged VAT. The EU allows people and companies to register for VAT exemption, which we abide by." https://secondlife.com/corporate/vat.php It might be that this is simply a page that has not been updated since the UK left the EU but equally and unless I am mistaken; The requirement for US companies to charge VAT to EU citizens is a EU directive I believe and not one set by the UK. So if that is indeed the case, surely LL no longer need to charge VAT to users making purchases from the UK given they are an American company? Is it possible for someone who knows more about VAT rules/requirements to clarify? I have read the gov.uk website regarding VAT but it seems to talk more about tangible goods/imports rather than services and I will be up all night if I am trying to make sense of it. Thanks Ex
  3. Hi all, I am selling a niced sized parcel situated on adult mainland. It is 2560sqm with 585 land impact, meaning you only pay LL for 2048sqm! (due to the bonus prim allowance) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ixo%20Axo/105/26/65 Only L$14,999! Cheers Ex
  4. So right now I don't really have a home on SL. My "home" is simply a "safe hub". Despite the name, these are commonly targeted by griefers and are not that safe at all, especially if you want to stay out of trouble. Unfortunately for me I left my avi in a safe hub while afk. Someone thought it would be a good idea to grief everyone on the sim. My graphics card started to overheat and when I returned to my computer, I could hear my GPU fans running at max RPM. God knows how long they were doing that for! Now my graphics card is on the verge of dying. I see random polygons and rendering performance has significantly decreased. Why can't LL do more to combat griefers? Not only is it a major annoyance, it can also be very costly too! Now I need to buy a new graphics card before it dies completely. Ex

  18. The marketplace really needs to be overhauled. Given that it accounts for the majority of non-land sales, I think it's imperative that you get the marketplace right. Here's just a few issues: - It is terribly slow - The search functon is very poor and usually returns unrelated results - Sorting product lines is very difficult (I.e. I often have to skip through loads of female products before I come across men's products. You should allow merchants to categorise their products more specifically so that consumers can find what they're looking for - It looks like you've borrowed some of Ebay's interface design concepts. I suggest taking a look at a few e-commerce CMS systems out there. There's many features which you could borrow, many of which would greatly enhance the marketplace - Make it easier to get to the marketplace. Typing in "http://marketplace.secondlife.com" or by clicking through the links on secondlife.com is just too tedious
  19. Firstly, if you don't know anything about cloud computing, I advise clicking X because this won't make a lot of sense otherwise! I think it's time land gets an overhaul on Second Life. It has used the same basic concept since its inception and it doesn't appear to be progressing with modern technologies. The best LL has done is improve server hardware over the years, but that's about it. The concept has remained the same throughout the years. I think it is time to jump on the cloud bandwagon. I'm really surprised this hasn't been done yet! Like many on SL, I work in IT and despite my dislike for the overused term "cloud computing", I can see how cloud computing could benefit SL. Cloud computing would allow for scalability. This is an area where SL is currently lacking, or rather, it has too many limitations & constraints. Cloud computing would allow estate owners to define the size of their region, meaning enhanced scalability and flexibility. In addition, it could also reduce the cost of provisioning. Larger region = more cloud server resources Smaller region = less cloud server resources With the current technology in use, estate owners ofen find themselves constrained. For example, there's many popular clubs on SL (I'm referring to clubs which have dedicated regions) These clubs are often laggy* and there's nothing the estate owner/club owner can do about it. Even if they added another region, it wouldn't resolve the issue because it wouldn't allocate more server resources to the affected region/area. Cloud computing could be the answer to this. And this is just one example which shows how the cloud computing concept could benefit Second Life. *Not referring to render lag.
