If your able to in preferences you can increase your internet speed settings. I can't remember which Linden meeting it was in the past regarding a problem with the cache processor not being able to keep up with max internet speeds, bottlenecks and generates undesired performance issues. I usually bump my cache up to 8 gigs or max and I try not to max the internet speed because of the bottle neck issue.

I'll try that then and see if it helps.

Not sure if anyone asked in this thread:  Did you make sure your Second Life Viewer (whichever one you used) is white-listed in your Virus / Malware scanner?

The Viewer creates many, many files (in the cache folders, etc.) and if your Virus / Malware scanner targets those folders then it can also result in issues.

I made sure to set this all up when I first installed SL on my new PC, but, I'll try this again and see if that might help.

My PC is definitely not the problem, but here's the info.

  3. As the title says, one day when I logged in, I started to experience stuttering/freezes for several seconds when I move my camera or move my character. It just happened out of nowhere. I didn't change any settings, update my system, or anything. It was working like normal, and then the next day? it started happening. I reinstalled Firestorm and the issues persisted. I'm baffled as to what could be causing this. I tested it in various difference areas with different levels of activities, and it happened in all of them, other than an area that is literally nothing but my character. I think it might have something to do with buffering/loading textures, but, a few days ago, I could go into populated areas and it didn't have this issue.

So, I'm here, to see if any of you lovely people might have a suggestion or fix!

  4. So! I recently got a new Lenovo Legion 5 Pro for traveling/gaming and my Ryzen 7 5800H seems to be running very hot in SL. I know Ryzen/AMD CPUs tend to run a bit hotter than Intel, and it's a laptop, so temperatures are naturally going to be higher, but, I don't think SL should be hitting 80c+. I can run other Triple AAA titles that are about 10x more graphically intensive than SL at lower temperatures. I'm not expecting something like 40-50c like a desktop, but, it still seems high, especially for such an old game like SL.

Is there some setting, or a different browser (using Firestorm, atm) I could use to potentially keep down temps?

Many of the fantasy-type hairs from No_Match are older, so not quite as high quality as newer hairs. Especially the styles Rowan posted. Unfortunately for now at least, we can't really be picky if we want these types(I have an alt I used one of No_Match's older styles on. It's even older than those lol). If I was able to make hair, you can bet your booty i'd make plenty of fantasy-type styles. I'm pretty over and bored with all the voluminous up-n-swept hairstyles coming out these days.

I feel you. If I had any skill, whatsoever, I would do the same. Unfortunately, it's beyond my abilities.

Awesome, that's like what I'm looking for. I'll check it out!

EDIT: no_destiny is almost perfect, but, I just wish it was a bit higher quality.

  7. So. I recently started remaking my Elf a avatar with all the neat new stuff. However, what I'm having problems with is finding a long hair (like mid-back/waist) that also has braids. I've found long braids, but not long hair that has braids interwoven in it. If anyone knows of a store that sells one, that'd be awesome.

Unrelated,  but I'm also trying to find a good RP titler/mod. If anyone knows one of those, again, that'd be swell.

  8. Is it possible to change this after the tattoo is created? I bought a tattoo and it's perfect for what I want, but, it's too bright. I want to make it lighter, more see-through. The tattoo is modify. I tried using tint, but that just changed the overall color. The color itself is fine. I just want it much more transparent.

The Kupra body badly distorts the stomach / belly button area, there is no way to adjust the shape to compensate, best you can do is warp your work .. which will make the tattoo's Kurpa specific and is somewhat aggravating for a body that is exclusively BoM.

Most of my BoM tats are junk because of this. I wish they would treat this as an obvious bug and fix the UV mapping.

Yeah. I've noticed that. I've just been trying to avoid tattoos that go around the more obvious warped areas (groin/hips/butt/breasts), but, some of the more full-bodied tattoos still look good.

  10. For anyone that's curious about what I'm talking about, I uploaded an image. This is just a circle that I was testing with. Thank you Firestorm for having Local textures so I don't have to spend money uploading each time!

If it matters, I'm using GIMP and I'm using a brush to "paint" it onto the UV layer. it doesn't seem to help at all.

I think there is a dev kit for skins and tattoos freely available in the main store. It’s the kit for clothing and mesh accessories that you have to apply for.

Thanks! I did find this, but, uh... it didn't help much. The tattos are still weirdly warped. I'm sure I'm probably missing something very obvious on how to fix it. probably.

  12. Alright. So, I've been trying to make a custom tattoo for personal use for a bit. I've tried other tattoos I've had, but, around the breast/butt/hips/waist area, Kupra has some really bad stretching problems. I've looked up the default BOM and SL UVs, but none of them work. The image comes out super distorted and transformed. It looks very strange.

I tried looking up specific UV/layers/whatever, but I couldn't find anything. I know Kupra has a dev kit available if you apply, but... considering I'm not pro at developing cosmetics and I literally just wanna make a single tattoo... it seems like a waste. Not that I'd even get accpted.

  13. Actually, I did find a dress I was happy with, so woo!

But now, I'm looking for a book that hangs from ones belt and a tunic that fits to the SLink HG body. I can find plenty that are just mesh, but, of course, they don't fit... well, so, it looks strange.

  14. So, I've been looking for a fantasy/medieval-styled gown and robe for quite a few days, now, and I just can't seem to find one I'm happy with. Either because the quality is... underwhelming, it was made before mesh bodies existed, or, it just plan doesn't fit my mesh body (SLink Redux Hourglass). It's been a struggle trying to find something that looks good and fits!

Do any of you fine fellows have anything that fits my creteria?

On an unrelated note, anyone have a favorite full-body tattoo? I've been shopping around for some of those. BoM enabled, to be specific. There's plenty of non-BoM ones, but, with some being packed away, it might not list it, etc.

If anyone could help, that'd be awesome!

Regarding the shape, I don't have recommendations for buying a shape, but didn't a sample shape come with the Visage bento head?   (I think several came with the Visage Amelia bento head when I bought it).  If you wear your normal shape, and go to 'modify shape' you can write down all the slider numbers for the body, torso and legs sections - then wear one of the sample shapes that came with the bento head, enter the slider numbers from your existing shape for the body, torso and legs, and then play around with the sliders for the head to adjust it to your liking.  For me anyway, it's been easier to start with a head shape that comes with the head, rather than starting from scratch.

Yeah! I've been doing that, but, messing with the sliders is rather annoying because some of them are super subtle and you won't notice the difference until you start messing with OTHER things and then it all starts to fall apart. I've found something I'm, at least, reasonably happy with! But, it could always be better.

  16. So! I'm looking for some sweet, sweet SLINK (Hourglass) fashion, specifically two (well, three) things:

    • Nice-looking thigh-high stockings. I've spent some time looking, but, my search fu isn't quite... up to snuff. a lot of them look kind of bad.
    • Shapes that work with the new SLINK Visage Becky Bento head. there's so many for SLINK + (bento head), but, none of them work for the new update. I've tried editing my own head, but, I always make monsters!
    • This is actually a request to see if anyone can locate this item. I asked the person who was wearing it, but, they never got back to me. Here it is. If anyone could help me, whether it's just to say, "It doesn't exist for SLINK", that's fine too.

If anyone could give me a helping hand, that'd be swell.

  17. 4 hours ago, Blush Bravin said:

I could be mistaken, but as far as I know the old Becky head was a static mesh head and not bento. It not being bento meant that it really didn't respond hardly at all to the sliders so any shape used with that head will not look right on the new Becky head because it's now rigged for Bento.

Ahh, that could be why, yeah. I didn't realize that made a difference, tbh, but now that you said that... yeah. I guess I just gotta figure out how to convert it.

And just to clarify, old meshes that work with Slink HG still work just fine with the new updates, yeah? The new BoM is just letting us save on attachments.

  18. Alright, so, in my ever-burning addiction to making myself look better and better, I recently realized that Slink had moved onto a new system, so, I updated all my old parts and got the new ones redelivered. I read the instructions and I wanna make sure I'm understanding the process.

    - Remove all the old parts completely, including Alpha layers, since, the new BoM system places the old meshes directly on the system layers.
    - Equip the new parts that I received and they should seamlessly replace the system parks with my new BoM Slink items. Everything should work seamlessly.
    - Instead of using a HUG-based Alpha to hide parts, use the new included Alphas for it. I can now also use system tattoos/clothes/whatever instead of mesh items to save attachment space.
    - Adjust avatar as needed.

But, something that went wrong, perhaps because of the new system, is that my old shape I customized with SLINK Hourglass and the Visage - Becky in-mind looks very weird. The body looks fine as far as I can tell, but, the head is all squished and scrunched, despite being used previously on a SLINK Body/Head. Is there any method to quickly transfer the same settings so the two shapes look identical? Body settings aren't a huge deal if I have to re-do them, but, re-doing the face from scratch will be... frustrating, and I really love how my face looks and as far as I can tell, there's no way to "transfer" settings, so, I'd have to pretty much take a screenshot and carefully/painfully move all the sliders until I get something similar.

I'd provide pics, but, I'm not at my main PC right now.

    Any help would be great!
