  1. To the OP, I'm sorry you had trauma to deal with. But your post struck me as nothing but a tantrum thrown by an ADULT who is only playing a kid in a virtual world. You're pointing fingers and lumping all people who use adult avatars on a regular basis as though we're all out to get the kid avies. Frankly, I don't pay much attention to what goes on around me. I like to stay in my own little world. However, you seem to ignore the FACT that sexual ***** was...is...might be...a problem for Linden Lab. Lots of reasons for that. And, for it to be sexual *****, one of the participants would then be in a child avatar. You should police your own "community" rather than dictating what other adults...because we're real life grown up people and not real life children...using adult avatars are wearing. As adults. Playing adults.

You can use those material options on the Lelutka HUD when the eyes are in BOM or applier mode.   Both Appliers and BOM use the same texture, they are just two different deliveries, the quality is entirely dependent on how well the original texture was made.  For example, Avi Glam eyes come with both options, your eyes will look exactly the same either one you choose.

I probably just had not-so-great textured eyes before, and don't even bother checking anymore. I just automatically use the appliers and always keep my eye alpha on. I'm sure BOM would be just as good, but it's just such a habit for me to use appliers.

  3. I currently switch back and forth between Legacy Classic, Perky and Bombshell. I have Maitreya, Reborn and Erika, also. I wish Erika had found more support. There's a lot I like about that body over Reborn, and maybe even Legacy.

I tried with Reborn...and still pull it out now and then...but there are just some things I can't get past..."seen, and can't unsee now" sort of things which bother me when I'm doing photos. Legacy is better...for me...in those areas. I've tried to quit it...but I just can't. I think the Reborn Waifus have a more 'natural' look than Legacy Bombshell, but not enough to get past the other issues I have with it. I would love the shape of the waifus with the bottom of the Legacy Bombshell.

The lel eyes with an applier look more realistic imo. (You can also get the old lelutka omega kit and be able to use omega applier eyes as well.) When I've tried using system/bom eyes they appear flat and don't reflect lights. When you see it, you can't unsee it..

I have to agree with this. I don't use BOM eyes for that same reason. It's just my personal preference, but I take a lot of photos, and really think appliers (especially from one of the eyemakers who know how to make a realistic eye-white which isn't super-bright white and contains some small veins) look more realistic and just seem to be 'brighter'.

I am pretty slow on the uptake, and only got a clue about eye sockets by working with the vendor eyes. Sure, that was staring me in the face the whole time I was looking at head skins, and even in the LeL HUD; the inside of the eyelids, and esp the corner of my eyes looked really nasty, like raw meat (sorry), while all the picture of the skins and the picture of the eye in the LeL HUD looked really nice, like the head skin wrapped around the eyelid. Reader, that is not the case, yet another ad hoc kludge has to be implemented, essentially applying skin/make-up to that area. So now I have a set of basic eye socket make-up skins and another that blends a bit with make-up.

You can use that option, but you can also change the lacrimal and eye socket in the Lelutka HUD to more match your skin tone. It can even be black, if you want it to blend with a black eyeliner, or look like you rimmed the inside of your eyelid with black liner. I change mine often, based on whatever skin tone I'm using. If it's pale, I want a paler lacrimal area, if I'm tan, I want it darker, etc. it just a click on the HUD.

  6. There are often really nice eyes on sale during the Weekend sales. Some places to check out would be Sequoia, Avi-Glam, E U P H O R I C, Lotus, Ikon (doesn't participate in sales but really awesome eyes), Gloom, Song and a few others I can't think of offhand. I think all of them include both applier and BOM versions, but you'll have to double-check.

Well, that makes sense that they would. The bears were encroaching on her territory, not the other way around. An animal in a weird and new place is going to be spooked far more than it would in the place where it lives.

Not to mention, in Pennsylvania you're generally talking black bears- one of the smaller, more timid breeds, where the advice for dealing with them is to make a lot of noise and appear bigger than them.

Not exactly a great example of a situation that's supposed to be on a "which is more dangerous" chart.

Neither the thought experiment posed, nor your post, specified the bear, but okay.

I gotta wonder how much they know about bears. Or about being in the woods at all.

My mother lived in one in a camper for 9 years in the mountains of NorthCentral PA, on private land in an isolated area (town was a 45 minute drive away). She had bears 'visit' her quite a bit, especially since she had bird and hummingbird feeders. According to her, she'll always choose the bear. They left when she made a lot of noise.

  9. I wish we could adjust finger length without having to make the entire hand larger or smaller. The fingers are just abnormally long, to my eye, on some mesh bodies, especially in relation to the palm. Some people DO have short fingers. *sighs and looks down at her hands*

However, I would be eternally grateful JUST for body scale!

  10. I've tried several, but I'm still stuck on Avalon as my favorite, although I like Billie on my alt. It's the only one which allowed me to go from Lelutka Simone to Genus Strong to, now, Avalon and feel like my 'look' didn't change too drastically across those 3 main heads I used. I feel like it's getting older now, and I keep trying newer ones, but just can't shape any, quite yet, so I feel like "me".

I'm not fond of either Legacy or Reborn. We all have our own preferences. The problems with Legacy for me are the high price, the high render cost, the thigh gap, and the server-based HUD. The problems with Reborn for me are its big butt and hands. I have small hands in RL, so I don't want an avatar with huge hands in SL.

I'm glad other people have these mesh body options though. I wouldn't want us to all look the same in SL.

Oh, definitely. I do like the way Reborn shapes, and can live with the bum. I just do a lot of photos with props and holdables, and find Legacy better for those. (Maybe someone will bring out a 'morph' body like Genus has done with their head. Interchangeable parts which all work together...if someone wants long delicate fingers, they're available. If someone prefers small stubby fingers, there's an option. Someone wants really muscular calves, but not a muscular upper body? You can have that! I can dream, anyway. 😊)

I do love seeing all of the great looks everyone puts together with different bodies/heads/skins. So many interesting, gorgeous and unique looks, so I definitely agree.  😁

Always buy what you prefer, but let's not encourage SL profiteering. Shopping is expensive enough as it is.

I ended up purchasing the Legacy Pinup/Bombshell body, even though I have Reborn and the Waifu's. The reason? I take a lot of photos...it's my only real creative outlet in SL since I don't make anything. And, no matter how hard I try, I can't past the Reborn hands and fingers. Who in the world has fingers that long and that completely straight with no shape to them? I have yet to see a body with great fingers/hands (mainly because we can't adjust finger 'bones' in the shape editor, but just hands overall), but Reborn's just look downright weird to me. I wear it sometimes, but now that Legacy has the big boobs, it's worth it...to me and in my opinion...to spend my lindens on it, especially at half-price. I'll get my money's worth in photos, already took one I was thrilled with and looking forward to many more. But that's just me.

I hope it gets more accepted, the norm is thicc bodies beause it's the safest body type.

Do you mean because more people seem to prefer the thicc shape? I'm just wondering what you mean by this.

  14. Your HUD should look like this. And you should have 5 feet options. You wear the feet in the Legacy folder and use the HUD to change the heights. All Legacy shoes will fit one of these 5 heights. If one of these 'feet heights' don't work with the shoes, then the shoes aren't for Legacy:

It would be these feet in your Legacy Perky body folder:

  15. I'm so tempted by Billie. But I splurged on the Genus morph head and I'm highly considering the Snow Rabbit head. It's hard. I should really only buy 1 of the 2 (either Billie or SR) due to budget, but I really like both of them. SR is very young looking, but would work well for photos where I want that look. Billie has so many cool extras, and I love how she shapes. This is difficult. 🤔

Is it a Skin Fair group where demos are posted? I seem to remember it has been before... or was it Hair Fair?

I believe it was the Skin Addiction group, or something similarly named. Most of the designers would upload demos to the group so you could try them before you go. I'm not home to log in at the moment to see if that group still exists. It did last year, I do know that. :)

  17. If you have Simone, I would try the Lelutka Avalon, first. When I switched from Simone, that was the one I found I could shape to be most similar to my previous looks. Even looks with my former Genus Strong head. Use the shape included in the folder and try going from there. It won't work to use your current shape, but it might if you use the shape Lelutka includes and then tweak from there. At least, that's what worked for me. :)

  18. It sounds like this could be related to the eyebrow/hairbase you're wearing. If you go into edit appearance and go to the tab for body parts, you'll want the icon that looks like a little wig. Click on the wrench looking think next to that and then ignore any of the tabs for hair. You just need the tab for eyebrow. Play with those sliders, especially eyebrow size, arch and point, and see if that makes a difference.

Without a screenshot of what you're seeing, that's my best guess.

  19. If it's under your ear, it wouldn't have anything to do with the Maitreya body. It would be related to whatever head you're using. Check the HUD for whatever head you have on. You may applied an ear tattoo or some other type of tattoo either via that HUD or some other applier HUD. Either way, you should have an option to clear tattoo layers somewhere on your head HUD.

Wear the mesh top as BOM, not an applier.

Mesh and BOM are 2 different things. Mesh isn't worn as an applier. BOM is a texture that's baked directly onto the avatar skin. Appliers bake a texture onto a layer of a mesh body or head. Mesh is a separate attachment.

  21. Unfortunately, it looks like you're wearing 2 different mesh clothing items which don't go together. Usually, it's very difficult to layer mesh clothing items unless they're specifically created to go together by the creator. Sometime you can layer certain tops under some jackets even if they're different creators, but even that is hit or miss.

If you want to wear something net under that specific dress, you might want to search for a BOM net shirt which would fit under pretty much anything.
