Offering land /stay for money = advertising. You can argue till next year, but it's still advertising, and everybody is free to mention that, if a Mod wants to let it be, that their choice, but doesn't take away my right to say it.

Just like I'm free to point out that you were being a passive-aggressive jerk about it, instead of just addressing her directly. Just because you don't like me pointing that out to you, doesn't take away my right to say it.

While you are trying to play the deflection game from your initial words in this thread.  It's all about these words and how you presented them Ethan. It's as simple as that.

and advertising... there are other places for that.

The rest of that irrelevant stuff that you keep going on about and trying to detract from about "serious... find something to relax." etc, was never the issue here.

yes recap .. YOU didn't like i used two of your words  to be clear :

NOTHING more... you have serious issues if you need to complain about that as you did.

Do you not understand that you came across as rude? Reread what you initially wrote after my first comment to Lola:

The words that I posted after your offhanded remark - were to point out your need to play forum moderator and correct her, but instead of addressing this to HER, you posted it to me.  You can't seriously be this clueless. Now read the last paragraph of Lola's second post, she was referring to YOU in that.

With that said, you can now go back to your regularly scheduled programming. I've gone back and forth enough with you this morning. TRY to have a good day. Tata!

If this post needs to be moved to the appropriate location in the forum please let me know what area that is.

This is not advertising land rentals... I have a post for that - for the actual parcels for rent.

I put this posting in this group because I wanted to offer (at expense to me) a decent place for people to rez, etc (the basic SL stuff) with a bit of privacy and not your average sandbox of chaos. I would of made it free but I had to deter griefers somehow so I made it a modest rental price.

Nonetheless, same as my community region this is a DRAMA FREE zone. There are better ways to "inform" someone without coming off as rude and pretentious.

    Hi Lola!

I rented a shack from you earlier and I have a question about the rental. Do you mind if I msg you in world?

    Thank you :)

Back to more relevant news... this is a cool idea. Maybe it will get moved, but it’s still a neat idea.

I agree, it is. I did go check out the sim and it's lovely! The shacks are literally one room with a bed, but it's only 5L. There are also larger houses for rent on the property for anyone who is interested.

has nothing to do with moderating, it's a feature that you can change your posts during 24 hours, no need to be a Linden for that.

The post didn't change,  only remove the quotation because it seemed to hurt a oversensitive person.

    So, let's recap..

First you quote and post your "advisory" to the wrong person, who then informs you of your error.  You turn around and try to come back with a convoluted sarcastic remark, which was totally unnecessary mind you..

Now you have the audacity, to try to label me "oversensitive", because you should have just stayed in your lane in the first place, instead of trying to RP forum moderator? O.o  FTR, I was referring to that first quip you posted to me, not your quote rewrite. Oh, brother. O__O

Look Ethan, I don't know you, never chatted with you in the forum before this day and I was quite content with that. You need to take a seat over there .........> and go back to whatever it was you were doing before this whole interaction started.

just using your first words, nothing more, but wil change it. don't worry, take a breath

Moderating... there are Lindens here for that. I don't see Linden behind your name.

Annnnnnnnd, you are telling this to me because? I already know that. I wanted to respond before the mods moved it, because I don't read the advertising section, AT ALL.

It's the OP you should be quoting and posting this to.

I once ran out of gas on Dad's motorcycle, in Milwaukee's near north side (not the safest place), on a sunny Sunday morning. I was about a mile from the nearest gas station, so began to push the bike. A man pulled up in his car and offered to help. I declined, but he insisted. Against my better judgment I finally agreed and he drove me to the gas station were I bought a gallon of gas in a little loaner gas can (no deposit!). He drove me back to the bike, waited for me to fill and start it, then offered to return the can to the gas station. He also encouraged me to visit his church, where he was heading when he first spotted me.

Curious, I did follow him to the church, where I discovered he was the pastor. The service was filled with exactly the kind of gospel music you posted. It was a raucous, joyous affair and I left feeling pretty damned good. He winked at me as I exited, and I winked back. My "better judgment" was improved by the experience.

It may not be as uplifting, but I will offer this...

That's such a great story Madelaine!

I guess whether you believe in God or not, the universe sometimes has a way of sending you what you need at just the right time, which in your case was a helping hand. I'm glad to hear that the experience was a positive one for you. :)

  9. Realistically, the most common ways to make money in SL are through commerce - creating a product to sell; Djing; Dancing/Stripping; Escorting; and Hosting at a club.

There used to be many more occupations to choose from, but the job market has dwindled tremendously over the years. I worked in the advertising/customer service field for years and also modeling for a while, but those types of jobs are few & far between and very hard to come by nowadays.

As for where to hang out - I'm still trying to figure that one out myself. Every time I take a hiatus from SL and return, all of my old landmarks are basically useless. So, I'm constantly on the search for new places where I can explore around and meet others.

  10. I originally signed up for the first time in 2007, because I'd gotten this email about a Duran Duran concert in Second Life and thought to myself "what is this Second Life?? I must check it out!" So I signed up, logged in and my first thought was: "what in the actual f***!" It was just weird.

I initially landed in a Welcome area and people were just standing around everywhere. Some had hair floating around or attached to their butts, and I was thinking "This place is a mad house!" So, I wandered around for a bit and some guy approached me and started talking about Lord knows what. As I continued to walk around, he started following me.. at first I didn't really think anything of it, until he started asking me a series of weird sexual questions, which at that point I tried to fly away from him and that prompted him to take flight as well!

I was desperately trying to read the help boards that were posted around to figure out how to TP away, but I was stuck!! So I decided to log out and didn't log in again until 2009 after watching a documentary about Second Life. Needless to say, my second experience was much more pleasant.

its hard to be individual now.

    It really isn't...

Suppose you are a noob or someone who can't afford it or doesn't feel like putting in the time, effort, and money that it would take to customize your avie in such a way that would set it apart from the herd - those "ready made" avatars/outfits/etc would be of some benefit to you - because they make updating your look quick and easy without all of the hassle.

You can't knock people for that.

I've been in SL for a very long time, and I've yet to have anyone tell me "You know, your avatar looks just like this other person's avatar!" I'm sure that many in this forum could probably say the same. In the end, all that matters is what the person behind the avie likes.. I mean after all, THEY are the ones wearing it as a chosen expression of their virtual selves..

How they look or what they wear has zero personal impact on YOU - whatsoever. So YOU can happily go on about your day, living your SL however you choose to live it, while leaving them to live theirs in peace and unaffected by your "opinions".

Sounds like a fair trade to me.

  12. Do you really want to know how to individualize your avatar in SL?

By doing your own thing, wearing what you want, and not listening to anyone who is trying to tell you how to "individualize" your look. Because what it really just boils down to  - is them pushing their preferences and what they like onto you, instead of just allowing you to find your own way when it comes to fashion and customizing a look that fits what you like.
