  1. The Confederation of Democratic Simulators (CDS) Celebrating Their 10th Anniversary in Second Life!! Tuesday, Sept 9th, 5:00 - 6:00 PM SLT Lecturer: JerryDon Lane Topic: Consciousness In The Universe-Finding God in Science Click for SLurl: The Rhenus Docks on Colonia Nova Jerry Don Lane will be giving a lecture to the students and faculty of Florida Gulf Coast University. This lecture is to the sociology department as they study sociology concerning religion, more precisely in this case, religion in SL. You may be interested in attending. He will take a look at the spirit inside Homo Sapiens from a scientific standpoint and attempt to find a supreme power in the universe via nothing but physics. Lose your Koran and your Bible as there is no theology at all in this lecture. And if there were a heaven, and we could glean information from those who have experienced it through Near Death Experiences, and we then compile those experiences and derive an experiential database, did you know that heaven must be similar to SL? There you can build by rezzing, communicate via telepathic local chat, no need to type, you will be wearing internal google glasses. And TP anywhere you want. There is no time or gravity to wrestle with. Is it just like SL? * * * * * The official kick-off begins Sept 12th, but we are getting our gears in motion with some entertainment and events this week! The CDS Anniversary celebration will continue until mid-November with a myriad of special events including Queen in concert, a bluegrass festival, intellectual lectures on Greek/Roman mythology, country artists, DJ competitions, a blues festival, dances, poetry readings, an art festival, historic tours of CDS, a treasure hunt, our annual Oktoberfest and more! Stay tuned for further announcements .... About CDS: With approximately 80 current citizens, the Confederation of Democratic Simulators is the oldest democracy in Second Life. Originally founded in 2004 as the City of Neualtenburg in the Anzere region as part of a contest by Linden Labs to preserve the snow sims, the Confederation of Democratic Simulators (CDS) is now a five-region community operated by the citizens in a democratic manner including elections twice a year. Plans are currently underway to add a sixth region. Each region is designed to reflect a specific theme: Bavarian, Roman, Alpine and Tuscan. Resident master builders have created amazing builds in each of the regions including the Schloss within a walled city, the Kirche, the Monastery, the Praetorium and a Tuscan fishing village. All of the regions are connected by a planned infrastructure and offer a place to walk, bicycle or horseback ride. We even have a Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA)!
