  1. I just ordered a skin and shape  from the SL Marketplace for $L 600 and all I got was a non clickable poster. I'm on Firestorm. I looked in the "Recent" and the "Received Items" and there's one item which when I drag to the floor is a non clickable poster. If I click on it my poor frustrated alt just walks into it. The L$600 is gone from her balance.

I tried to get it redelivered but when click on the redeliver button nothing happens. When I right click and open that button in another window says "The page you were looking for doesn't exist.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but have no idea what it is. Can someone help?

  2. I want to apologize in advance if this has been asked before but I have a question about uploading photos.

Sometimes when I upload a photo from the real world the picture gets distorted. Basically it will make a person look fatter than they really are. Other times this does not happen. Has anyone else seen this? I've tried messing with the different picture settings but it just changes the overall size of the picture without correcting the problem.

Does anyone know why this happens? Is there any way to fix it?

Mark is a scumbag. Never signed up for a Facebook account because I took the time to read their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and said 'no thanks'. I then suffered social loss by my own friends who 'punished' me by going to events they organized on Facebook and didn't inform me, then said "Well you don't have Facebook".

Those people were not your friends. Real friends would not reject someone over their selection of what computer program to use. They are scum and you are better off without them.

Well, isn't that interesting. That means they finally went against their own religion favouring a randomizer script. They used to randomize sending of newbies to infohubs, including the resident-run old Linden resident hubs (such as we have in Ross). There you could see that the religious belief in randomizing didn't produce balance with that small a sample, so one day you might get 50 pile-ups at once at your site, because that's how randomness works, and then go days with nothing.

A true load balance would really literally divide them up equally and get equal outcomes as you indicate.

As I said, I don't believe in a system of resident-run intake. It's inherently inept and corrupt and hence ineffective.

As we speak, planet Earth is struggling with that system.

I believe you quoted the wrong person. I'm not the one wanting to save the shoes. I bought new shoes years ago.

Good point. I'm still learning how to aim this keyboard. It seems to pull to the outside.

No, you can't. You can't even drop a scrubber script to remove scripts in a no mod object.

Best thing to do is to just chip in and by a new pair. When I went Mesh I got my Laura avi and starter clothes from the in world Maitreya store. Not that I'm recommending one over another but I learned about Mesh from watching a video and that is what they recommended. So far so good.

A new starter experience is long long LONG  overdue.

I've been playing since 2008. There have been many attempts to make the steep learning curve easier. Every few years they create a new starter zone and it's still difficult for newbees.

One big problem is that you can't start people off with easy tasks. That, in part is because this is a virtual world and has no built in tasks, why by the way, is another thing that causes beginners to struggle.

Long story short, I have a couple years under my belt and talked a RL friend into finally coming into Second Life and dipping their toes in the water. I wasn't awake at the very moment they created and logged in so they were walking around that area doing the basic command helps and whatever have you. And they get talked to multiple times by someone who says they're there to help the novices. (I don't remember that kind of person hanging around when I created, but it has been a few years) So my friend is being overly bombarded by comments about the fact that I have brought them to SL, how suspicious it is and how they should not wait around for me to help them, the list goes on and on for about an hour and I was finally awake to help them get off the island.

Is this kind of thing normal?

It was really nearly enough to turn them off even trying more of Second Life and those of us who love it here understand how, I would hope, how disappointed that made/makes me. I hope that novice helps can do better than passing harassment and comments on a new person. I don't really come to the forums beyond an occasional hunt or search on a how-to so I don't know if this is a normal thing, if it is a fluke or what.. but maybe just letting others know can change that and keep it from happening again.

Second Life has a steep learning curve for beginners and there are the occasional weirdos. I would suggest that if you recruit anyone for the game you warn them of that steep curve and suggest that they wait until you are around before logging in for the first time.

at what unknown price? Someone wise once said "if the product your using is free that means you are the product."

At a price we are willing to accept. If not, we stop logging in and move on.

I'm getting notices everywhere that Linden Labs is now collecting cookies, tracking, what we buy, how we use MP, etc. I'm not sure I like them knowing what I'm doing in Second Life--privacy is what I loved the most. Anyone else have thoughts?

What it comes down to is basically this. Second Life is the property of Linden Labs. They are clear in their TOS (Terms of Agreement) where they stand and what rules we have to follow. At our option we can accept the TOS and continue to be guests on their site.

I'll start this discussion by saying I think the way he got his start was kinda sleazy...he made a website comparing the looks of his college classmates. That site was the precursor to his most famous creation: Facebook.

Is Mark Zukerburg even a real person? When ever I see him on TV he looks like an android.

I don't think I've ever seen his facial muscles move.

I really couldn't decide which forum this should go into. If it needs to move, please fix it.

Quite a while ago I discovered that my favorite pair of heels are now unusable. These shoes predate mesh feet becoming ubiquitous, but I still love them.

The problem is that there is an update script in the shoes. Said update script is erroring with "Too many erroneous (5XX) HTTP responses too fast." I can't fix the problem because the shoes and the script are No Mod. Nor can I delete the script.

I have reached out to the creator, who I won't name and shame, numerous times but have received no response. Even though the shop is still active on the MP, the creator hasn't logged in since 2018. I've tried notecards, messages - you name it.

In short - I need to figure out HOW to get the damn script out of my shoes. Or some method of preventing the thing from running non stop spamming me with error messages.

I'm assuming there is no solution, short of getting LL to step in. Which is probably hard to get them to do.

    Suggestions?

Do the shoes still work if you switch your avi to pre mesh? If so then just keep them to use in that mode.
