what about setting up a kind of a ban line around gachas as option that bans users from it if the country not allow gachas (loot boxes) ?

This thing is industry wide. it might be even beyond LL. For the beginning, messing with loop hole might complicate things. Unless you guys are prepared to pay and cover for all the fines, legal fees and damages LL sustain.

it's a fine line sure, but there is a line.

say this wasn't a gatcha vendor, say it was a one of kind vendor that sells 100 unique items of all kinds. once a purchase has been made, there is no more of that item, so the vendor moves on to the next item randomly.

what is the difference between the one of a kind vendor and the gatcha one demonstrated in that video?

ah, i see. Well too much hassle for me. lol

the problem as I understand it is that gatchas don't tell you what you'll get. so you are buying blind. with the hovertext it tells you. so you know what you're buying. it seems to fulfill the rules.

I don't personally care about gatchas, but I find this fascinating from just a rules standpoint

I dont either. I'm ok with finding a legal solution but i find the hovering text is like an extra step to the regular sale board.

  4. Everyone is too caught up with this and can't think clearly. Confusing themselves with all sort of wrong definitions regarding gacha.

Going full out on defense or offense will not solve things. People need to slow down and breathe. Wait for more from LL before jumping into conclusion and fear mongering.

There is actually a pretty simple solution around this but this is not the place for that discussion. *winkwink nudgenudge*

So sit back, relax and wait for more from LL *sips tea

ok, I understand if there are 100 people, there will be 100 different opinions, but my opinion is that the ban of gacha is the most wrong thing that I saw in SL

I dont mind gacha. But it is how it is with things in the gaming industry at this moment. You are still entitled to your opinion.

and I'm not asking you to be upset because of my dresses. I'm just saying my opinion is it still possible to do it in SL, or is it already a ban too?

You should research and read up first on the issue with loot box and gacha in the gaming industry before you confuse yourself more.

this is absolutely not the right decision, I don't understand who and how gacha interferes ... it's cruel ... if for linden lab it's like gambling, then make a special sim like for a casino ... damn, really for SL there is only gacha as the only one problemma and threat? I don't think Linden Lab is really interested in people's opinion, but if a miracle happens and you read this, then this is your strangest rule

Gacha issue is not a SL related issue. The whole gaming industry (the gamers and regulators) are all kinda up in arms over gacha/ Loot box system for many years now.  You should research and read up more before you direct your confusion on the wrong target.

Wait. Do you mean to tell me that 7Seas no longer has the bikini tops and bottoms that you can reel in?

    Aw man! *reag quits*

    😊

Edit: Just thought I'd mention many years ago the 7Seas fish and other pets you caught were not transferable so that can just be switched back to the way it was. yippee! \o/

I won't know. I have not really done fishing, yet. 😅

What do you mean? Like throwing gachas in a pound, selling baits/tokens to fish them out randomly? Makes sens, I see where you're going with that.

The way you described it. I'm not sure how I feel about fishing out clothes and undies from a pond. 😅

Are you insane LL? It is our choice of whether or not we want to spend our money on something that is totally random. It is our right to choose how we spend our hard earned money. This is literally akin to outlawing casinos everywhere and every which way in the real world. This is a power you should NOT have at all as it is basically deciding for us how we should be spending our money. If we want fat packs, we'll buy freaking fat packs. If we want to take a chance and gamble then we will do so. Simple as that. It's a matter of choice. To all those who say that THIS is a good idea, NO! IT IS NOT! This is literally stealing away our ability to choose how we spend our own hard-earned money and at the end of the day, is only the beginning of someone being able to take away all of our choices on Second Life at the end of the day.

TL;DR: If you wanna take a chance on something, then you will. If not, buy the fatpack. CHOICE PEOPLE! EVERYONE HAS ONE AND NO ONE HAS THE AUTHORITY TO MAKE THAT CHOICE FOR ANYONE ELSE JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE IT!

Why stop there? To be fair, while you are at it, should we also start allowing the same freedom of choice for griefters, copy-bots and creepy pedo to do whatever they like too?

Also, not all gacha has fatpacks.

I honestly think creators will just revert back to basic sets instead of the extravagant ones you see in gachas. I got 3 sets today from an event, spent less than people typically do for fatpacks with a gazillion shades of solids. I feel like these will be few and far between now. Or basically there will be little motivation for creators to make stuff like this.

If gacha machines are illegal, why are toy vending machines in super markets, eh?  Same mechanics, same game of chance on a known set.  How is this any different? Is legality the actual issue?

You are in the wrong forum. Please ask that in the forum for supermarkets.

In summary, gatcha is NOT a way to gamble. Rather, it is way for a creator to market their items by presenting a collection.... and for buyers to get items at a discount or get specific items by paying a premium.

Then why not just sell it at like all other products without RNG?

How about making a spin the wheel type thing to replace the gacha.   Can't decide on one? Spin the wheel for a suggestion.

If they spin a 5, they buy #5 and you have accomplished the same thing. The key difference is that when they made that transaction, they know what they were getting.

Do they have to pay for each spin or spinning is free until the wheel land on the item they want?

if Pay - then its the same thing as the gacha we have now.
if Free - then why add additional layer to buy an item?

Really? It's the only one I can think of unless you gift it. It was an affordable way to help out newbies. I have many items on my inventory, and the only ones that are transferable are from a gachas

Yes I do agree it is much more affordable in many cases. sadly, it has come to this now. It is how it is.

Yes gifting is one way, and also I bought some full perm items to give out too.

I think this is a terrible idea; this is going eliminate events such as the Epiphany and the Arcade! Gachas are a way for people to be generous and surprise their friend with a gift and that thrill of getting rare or ultra-rare. I have helped newbies, passing them gacha eyes to get them started on their look. For the people saying that it is "long overdue", have you ever thought that this could raise store prices? And will this also affect the Powder Pack? You don't know what you're getting when you buy the Powder Pack. Or is this just focusing on sales from gacha machines? This makes me think of a content creator that has passed away in RL; she would have been destroyed by this decision. Her business heavily relied on her sales at the Arcade. Not only is this bad for creators, but this is a real bummer for consumers that have enjoyed exchanging gachas with their friends.

The value and rarity of an item is subjective.

I have helped newbies too, gacha isnt the only transferable option.

Patch, when you do your FAQ, please address

    1. What laws in what countries and what regulatory climate are you concerned with? Has anyone be convicted or lost a lawsuit so far?

    2. If you use the criterion of "paying and receiving something  back by chance"... then will you also outlaw the following:

    - Current Linden Home allocation

    - Sploders

    - 7Seas Fishing using bait

Linden homes are not game of chance.
You select trailer home, you get trailer home. You get the house your select, It is not random. You do not get a different home or a part of the home (like just a roof for example).
