    Monthly vs Annual

Personally I always get annual on my (and on my alts) Premium accounts. My intent is to hang on to my linden home for some time.

I cant really see why people pay monthly for a long term when there is such a huge price difference between monthly and annual.

I am not ready to go to premium plus at the moment, but when I do, it will be the annual plan. I believe $249 works out to $20.75 a month, which is WAY cheaper that the 29.99 that Premium Plus will cost once the special introductory pricing goes away. The annual saves me 9.24 a month or 110.88 annually.

Because some people do not have the financial security that others are fortunate enough to have.  By this I mean they may not have 250 dollars or even 100 dollars spare laying around at any one time.  Most people have mortgages, car payments, children, and other things to spend monthly wages on versus entertainment.  They however maybe able to afford the 12.00 dollars or 24.99 or 29.99 over the course of several months as a small luxury item.  Recession is a likely conclusion of what is about to hit the world over by the end of next year is my guess.

Users don't get to decide what we're entitled to. We are only entitled to what the legal agreements and TOS says we're entitled to having. People seem to think SL is a democracy in which we all vote on the forums. It's not. It's a privately owned digital platform or "game" for which we agree to rules and fees that are set by the owners.

Actually that shiny new 800 number for customer service on premium plus may come in handy at some point.  It would of come in real handy last year around this time.

This is part of the problem though, what one sees as abuse, another sees as a reasonable thing because they paid for it.  Who is reasonable and who isn't?  It's all very arbitrary.  When it "becomes a problem" is very far away from clearly stating that the behaviour is an abuse and suggests that it will be tolerated to a degree.  In light of how the gaming of Linden homes has already been tolerated, it isn't unreasonable to think that.

Yes, indeed, buyer beware.  This could all have been foreseen and catered for in a clear fashion with a bit more though, especially considering how much gaming of Linden homes has already occurred.

You haven't said anything that I don't disagree with here actually and I upgraded purely for the free texture uploads.   I'm currently quite happy with my current Linden Home and have been on that same house for over a year.

This is one of the problems with "benefits" likes these, they are poorly thought through.  Some things expire when you downgrade, some don't.  It gets confusing when there isn't clarification up front which is which before people pay up.  The other problem is when with a casual word someone can indicate that a "benefit" that has been paid for can be halted.  What is "becomes a problem" in this case?

''Becomes a problem'' in this case is if anyone is seen to be abusing the system, the Lindens at anytime under discretion will then halt said system, thereby making people who shelled out several hundred dollars for the new shiny thing angry as well.   Hence they are now selling a product that is now having caveats added to it less than 36 hours after the purchase.  Therefore anyone reading this you've now been warned ''buyer beware.''

Speaking of exploits they should take the time to fix the known exploit that exists on the website land page where you can pass houses back and forth between people if you know how to do it.  Time to report that bug to the JIRA as well since no one seems to have ever bothered.  That particular loophole should be fixed as well therefore making all roads to Linden Home acquisition fair and happy.

If people abuse this enough that it has to be dropped... 🤬

We shall see :) I like the 15 dollar name change though and plan on using that on a name I don't like atm!

Correct, if you upgrade to request a home, thank you.  The account is marked that the request has been made.  If it becomes an issue, we can halt the benefit.

Why does it have to be taken away from everyone if only the certain few are abusing it would be my only question?  This is one of the benefits for everyone if a small group choose to abuse it, that small group should be the ones barred from using the feature versus it being ruined for every single person that has premium plus.  Interesting that you will halt it though because its one of the reasons I paid you 250 US dollars to get the improved premium.

This also makes me wonder if you guys offering the choice of linden home gets you around the european laws coming into effect for loot boxes that made the whole concept of the gachas to change.

One thing to keep in mind is not to fall for the GoH mindset. That is the idea that a new house is automatically better. Therefore, once that house is not new any more, it's not worth having. A house that someone just abandoned could be your dream house. Some of the ones people are claiming by ticket aren't houses that you'll ever want. The ticket system won't mean that there are no good houses left.

Also, I fully expect people to be abandoning houses they've claimed via ticket as soon as the next new thing comes along. People who switch houses multiple times a week are very unlikely to settle.

The interesting thing will be what the system does with the houses. I wonder if the regions we're in will start to fill up now that someone has a house claimed there. Will the autoassigner kick in or not when a house gets abandoned?

A region that I had premium plus homes assigned in went last night after a restart by the person who Assigned them via ticket.  Other homes were claimed via the page it seems because I had a friend who filed a ticket to get a home next to mine.

So I imagine we will get a lot of people upgrading for a month now to to get their perfect LH and then canceling...leaving the others for those that don't upgrade. Awesome....

Cheap way to change your name as well.  I've got an alt on premium and I can upgrade for 6 bucks for the rest of the month until renewal then change my name for 15.00 and downgrade again.  They probably should of thought a couple of these things out better.

I often wonder where and who these land barons are that are charging WAY too much for a full region.  The land company I always rent from rents   20K full regions for USD$231/4 wks.  $2 over LL price.    30K regions for USD$259/4 wks..  $6 over LL price.

Grandfathered regions are 179 a month and the larger land barons own loads of them.  Can’t remember how much a 30k prim one is but I know it was 30 us dollars more than the 20k prim one at least in may of 2021.  You now have to pay tax based on the area from which you live for your region that started this year.  I pay tax on the 179 a month now.

It's not a rumor but one of many possible perks which were discussed by LL but haven't been implemented yet. No one knows for sure if or when it will become available.

It hasn’t I was getting content packs I was missing on my alt yesterday and it is 5 rolls still.    Enjoy the weekend as the weather is lovely 😊

I think they could do that with new parcels in the old themes, but probably not with the parcel that exist already. Maybe they can sprinkle a few double sized or 1536 m parcels throughout Bellisseria to see how people like them? They'd have to be on really nice parcels though.

They literally could just give me double prims with the same house sizes they are already offering.  I don't need a bigger house.  Just more prims thank you

To those who have put in the tickets for the house request. How exactly did that work? I mean, was it literally a house you found through wandering? Did you have to have a specific coordinate? I read the FAQ but my brain is fuzzy on this perk.

I put in two requests for two different avatars I upgraded today.  I also added a 2nd alternative incase the first was taken.  You may wanna go as far as a third alternative as well.

You basically just put in a URL of a house you fancy that is ''linden home'' and then they process it by putting your name on it you get a thank you and say your home is ready.  you then can go stand on your parcel which is in your name already.

I made sure I added 2nd url's as a back up so they didn't have to keep coming back to me.

I'd love an answer to this as well before I do anything else.  Right now my only real incentives are my current land would be tier free, and the free uploads.  Upping my grandfathered tier would be quite an incentive since it would drastically change my math.

ITS ALL ON THE FAQ =-- READ IT..

  14. Please stop beating a dead horse, most of you have said you aren't happy with the price.  You have the choice not to purchase it and nothing for you has changed.  You simply dont buy it and anyone who is happy with it can buy it and go on with life.  249 is here and that is the price.  You either pay or you don't.  It is like going to the used car lot and buying the BMW, Mercedes, or the cheap Honda.  You get what you decide to pay for in life. No one is forcing anyones hand here and quite honestly the moaning needs to just stop because 249 is the price and no one is obligated to pay it.

You get around 150 dollars worth of linden in the course of the next year which brings the price of this down to 100 US dollars.  So at 20 plus US a month I'll take my new 2600 (12.28 if you buy inworld) and free uploads on everything. (The 249/12) = 20.75 - 12.28 (Linden Cost) = 8.47

That is what it is costing you to have this if you buy it straight up  at 249

I'm going to pay 8.47 a month to get a bunch of stuff that I find highly desireable.

I thought the Oberwolf-Phillip SLB19 chat would not be very interesting, but on the contrary, I found it fascinating. To understand more about how our new owners fit together and organically came to be was heartening. Phillip's integrity, love of community, vision, and gentle style counterbalanced Oberwolf's practical, timely, and sharp business acumen. I appreciated that Oberwolf explained the business model they are betting on, and in my unlearned opinion, think it makes sense. I was pleasantly surprised at their transparency.

I may be all wrong, but in my observation, I think we sadly may have lost some Lindens but gained some wonderful moles. Cut costs here, invest there: they did empower Patch to let his active imagination soar resulting in the beautiful Belli continents. I eagerly await 2048 Belli. (Hint hint: very high ceilings/glass wall open concept modern Meadowbrook-like builds would be amazing on 2048 lots!)

A couple years ago when we first were told of the sale there was widespread fear that we would be acquired and sold off in pieces. On the contrary, Linden Lab is heavily investing in SL, has cut fat, and looks for ways to give us the most bang ("value") for our buck. Of course nothing is perfect, but I have certainly noticed the difference. I appreciate that they chose to continue Ebbe's successful open interactive style with the residents.

Fingers crossed, I left thinking that we are in very good hands.

Nevermind it was posted I will however watch it based on the post you've presented.
