It involves the concept of "masculinity" and the pressure for boys and men to conform to this ideal.

I think the same goes for women.  I also wanted to add it's not unusual to look at the typical in our world as dull.  If you didn't conform to the norms of masculinity, perhaps you need to think and explore outside of that stereotyped box.  Best wishes.

  2. From your OP and from what I read from your words, you could have been perhaps "bored" with the mainstream gender identities of both the masculine and the feminine.  So, it sounds to me you are a very creative person, perhaps and need a new to find new ways of being both genders other than the basic stereotyped ones.

I want to say something about what I discovered about myself:  I have separated from being human altogether and became a Dinkie cat avatar.  The reason I became a Dinkie, I realized just recently, is because it's centered on fun.  With a human I always felt like I was making avatars that were either working or looked like a Mom, and it kept reminding me of working and work and <fun> was what I was really seeking.  So, I ditched the "working look" human avatars.

I think with humans and Dinkies many of us have had avatars where we've gender-bended a bit and been a bit of both genders.  Sometimes I'm a girl in sneakers and a tank top.  It's okay to wear whatever you want.  I've never been overly feminine in SL.  Perhaps more on the tomboy side but when working in SL with adult avi's I always seemed to look boring like I'm working.  I gave up working in SL and now I know what I want - just to have fun.

Don't be too hard on yourself.  Some of us are always changing our look and often never quite satisfied.

As far as the stereotypes of masculine - jeans, tank top, sneakers work on both male and female, and then just have fun.  Making creative and unique avatars is a lot of work but it can also be rewarding.   But, maybe that's what you need.  Something really creative.  Some of the masculine avatars are very good and often made by woman.  Think of SL avatars as creating a painting and be want you want.

Just like Love said the variations of the pride flags are needed, so are these needed.  The state flags are needed in state government buildings for programs that are provided by that state.  IOW, the program is not a federal program, it is a state program.  However, state government buildings usually fly both the state flag and the American flag in the state government building.  The state flags are needed on occasion.

    https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/5/23738968/apple-vision-pro-ar-headset-features-specs-price-release-date-wwdc-2023

The Apple AR/VR headset has appeared at today's WWDC23. Anyone taken a deep dive yet? Care to share?

Would this be a high-end "green fields" opportunity for Linden Lab (as opposed to the low-end-battle-royale of mobile)?

It's pricey, Diamond.  Plus, Sansar was a complete dud, and SL is going mobile and there are an estimated 6.5 billion cell phone users.  In America, one can get a free cell phone with unlimited data if they qualify which is adding to the cell phone market.  The mobile market is going to be amazing!  People are already on phones playing games by the billions.

Love's link explains why the colors were chosen. It's loosely inspired by the rainbow, but each color represents something specific to the original flag designer.

It's loosely inspired by the rainbow but I couldn't see it being changed.  It's interesting too how the rainbow has different colors yet it is one rainbow.  We always have included the actual rainbow symbol for Pride marches.  I don't think it's just the colors.  It has a lot of heart to it.

It's a universal symbol of HOPE.  Taking a meaning from the bible disregards 2/3 of the world's population.  Just sayin'.

I think most of us have heard about "the great flood" even if of different religions or no religion but I think that's where it's symbolism originated from but I did not want to have a religious discussion.  I am irreligious.

I was just reading about the rainbow and it stated it's become a universal symbol of peace because we all live under the rainbow.  But, you are right in that it is also hope in that we are equal under the symbol.  It is also a symbol of unity and equality in many countries because it's thought is it was given to all of us.

I believe the rainbow is symbolic of God's covenant to all living beings on the Earth rather than chosen for it's colors.

What does God say about the rainbow?

"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind."

(The rainbow became God's covenant with all living beings on the Earth, after the great flood.)

Just me talking about the rainbow and it's colors.  One could always carry a flag and still wear muted colors.

You gave me a confused emoji, Love...

    So, let me try again.

The rainbow is a universal symbol of peace.  It was given to us after the great flood.  Now, do I really believe in that great flood or think it a parable of some kind?  It doesn't matter here.  Though still, the rainbow is a universal symbol of peace which has meaning.  Take the rainbow symbol and it's colors away, it just wouldn't feel right to me.

Purely from a color design point of view I don't really like the whole rainbow and colors in products for Pride Month. It's too much of a happy and carnival style of coloring. What about sophistication and coolness? Muted colors? Maybe after a few more years we'll see the palette mature into a darker and wearable style.

I believe the rainbow is symbolic of God's covenant to all living beings on the Earth rather than chosen for it's colors.

Yes, a tutorial I watched recommended this for photos and I forgot to make it smaller and was hoping I wasn't out of luck with resizing at those huge proportions. lol.

I don't think the SL viewer would even upload a photo with the pixel size you have in the OP.

Good luck, and I hope you get what you want and are happy with!  But, yeah, it's gotta be less pixels for a profile pic like 512 x 512.

I think it's just square now.

Sorry, wasn't laughing at you Ingrid.  I thought you were being sarcastic because of her ginormous pixel size she has in her OP.  And, you may have been, being sarcastic, I mean.  Her pixel size is like real life billboard size, practically.

The profile pictures for in viewer are square, now?

Yes, you could try 1024 x 1024 but some people get impatient for a photo of that size to rez.  Try it a larger size and see how fast your photo loads for friends.  If your 1024 x 1024 doesn't load fast, I can tell you that 512 x 512 usually looks pretty darn good for a profile pic.

Yes it would be quite a milestone worthy of the name if and when the Lab trots out a functional mobile viewer.

I think that's what the "significant milestone" is - a mobile viewer.  That will be quite a milestone for SL.

The ponies on the cell phones comments from me was because Alwin said that the significant milestone is "we finally get our pony".

The part where you implied that a mobile viewer would appeal to teens with phones and ponies.

Oh, no, with mobile viewer it will/could be lots of people.  I was just joking about the ponies.

I've already said in a post on the forum there are an estimated 6.5 billion people on cell phones and this is a huge untapped market for SL.  I think median age will be 30 somethings though that's just a guess.

I cannot find any information that is recent about dimensions or aspect ratios for profile pictures.  It also seems there is a difference between viewers and also on the web?  LOL.  May I please get some information on what everyone does as a great midground option?  I use Firestorm viewer. I saved snapshots onto my pc at 7680x4516 (hopefully not too big to downsize).  What do most people do?  And should I upload a different sized snapshot?

As far as me, I think I did 512 x 512, cropping some to make it square for my main account.  Your pixel size is way too big if you want people to see your profile pic and have it load fast.

TBF I could have been reading it wrong when he typed "and". Two separate things? Or related? Either way, I'm bored at the office right now.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking that he meant "and also".  Typing in a hurry possibility or he wants it to be a bit mysterious.

It's probably the mobile viewer.  One could get a phone with little ponies on it.  Oh my gah, 18 teeners coming to SL.  Lots and lots of them and they probably has phones with little ponies on them.

As the title says... i really wonder where the Lindens are.
    Pulled back?

Didn't see any note or announcement they would leave the most important way to be in contact with their userbase ( next to inworld)

@Alwin Alcott maybe I mis-read your OP here then.

I thought you meant by the above that the Linden's have left the most important way to be in contact with their userbase as meaning the FORUMS since you then said "next to inworld".

So, I'm not really sure what you are asking?

Do you mean community meetings or what exactly?

IOW, what do you mean by the most important way to be in contact with their userbase?

    Hi team!

The thread wandered quite a bit off topic a while back, so we've pruned things to get back on course. The question at the start of the thread is "Where are the Lindens?" (specifically, where in the forums), so please head back in that direction.

    Sorry for wondering off topic.

And, yes, it's about the Lindens not being present in the FORUMS as per the OP.

I have stated in one post I believe the MOLES have taken over the tasks of the forums lately, plus I added in that post some reasons why I think this so I won't go over my reasons for thinking this again.  But, MOLES present in the FORUMS are fine by me.  I have no problem with it.
