  1. Side Note; Singular, whole Mesh avatar. Waiting for a rig that will work. Looks like an ordinary, everyday guy. As you can see here, the rig I built for personal use is somewhat different from the default and bento rigs, although they are the source of my inspiration. Although more anatomically correct and friendly to movement without distortion and without weighting , it won't work in SL for obvious technical reasons. But it works in Blender.
  2. @LittleMe Jewell No, of course I'm not saying that. I know SL isn't a "game" as it's often erroneously referred to that's created by game studios such as ArenaNet, Bethesda or FunCom. I remember when SL began and the premise behind its creation back in 2003. SL has evolved a lot since then. However there is some evidence rather recently that suggests something akin to it under special developments in consideration which are currently not top priority. It suggests a paid service unlike what we're accustomed to here already. What it is exactly, I'm really not sure with maybe the exception that it seems related to a streaming service. In all serious honesty, those top people who run this, I don't think they do it on a volunteer basis. Otherwise, LL wouldn't exist. Edit: Question for you: Do you really think the people who create things such as hair, clothes, avatars (along with that abomination called mesh), and various other things such as breedables and animations are doing it for free? Do you think LL doesn't get a cut of those profits? Who get's the money when you upload things? Who builds the sims people build on? Who runs those servers? You think they just let people squat on those regions without paying rent? Who does that money go to? Why does SL have premium account availability with benefits such as a free home? That stuff doesn't just magically materialize out of thin air. Someone has to be paid for doing that work. Do you think programmers who work on the guts of this program work for free? Do you happen to remember the big court case over "ownership"?
  3. Further back in time when I worked in radio communications repair (1997ish), I envisioned "mobile video phones". This was shortly after the pager craze and mobile phones were making their widely public debut. They were just catching on. But I never thought that I'd be witness to Frankenstein being turned loose upon us all. Look around you. See what it is now. Returning back to the early 21st Century: Back then, I was not aware that using a pad to log into second life was even possible. When my friend did, it caught me by surprise. I have to admit I was extremely skeptical. It was difficult to for me to grasp and eventually accept it could happen. But it does hint that some form of mobile app was available at the time. What is was exactly, I'll never know but I suspect it was probably Linux based. Anyway, a lot of advancement in that technology has taken place over the years since then. So, I can't just dismiss the conceptual possibility it holds. Well, nobody in their right mind would demand current developments be sidelined to concentrate on this. Believe me, I'm making no such demands. According to some of the current information, there seems to be something going on in its development though even if it's not a priority. Thanks for pointing that out.
  4. I remember a long time ago when I rented a full homestead region (It was named "Dolphin Island" and has long since been renamed under new tenants). I can't remember exactly how long ago, but it's been at least 14 years ago either just before I had my house built IRL or shortly after. At the time, a close friend of mine was able to log into SL on a pad (I can't recall which one, BUT it was a mobile device) and I could at least see her avatar. We were at able to carry on a conversation via text although her avatar was immobile (although showing basic animations without the benefit of her Animation Overrider). Well, that was about 14 years ago. So that at least demonstrated the connection was possible back then. Now, 14 years is a LOT of time for advancement and improvements. I gotta wonder, what's been holding ya back?
  5. @Paulsian , That is interesting. It may not be the latest and greatest suitable for hard core gamers, but the action in the videos are more then sufficient for casuals such as me. Looks to me they're making good progress. Programming language is still programming language. What matters is how it is written. Thanks.
  6. Here is a little lesson in enlightenment for you, Mr. Legion. Nobody had to reply. I don't see common sense being exercised here since the first response to this topic with one response being the only exception. It demonstrates a lack of comprehension on most of the responders who think they are making a contribution. It would have simply made better sense and a whole hell of a lot easier to just ignore it. It's up to you if you want to keep harping about something that you really have no business getting involved in. It doesn't look good on you.
  7. I am not asking for anybody's help or advice. It would have been less headache for me if you simply didn't react to this topic. But I let myself get baited into a B.S. discussion of which I have absolutely no interest in. Well, that ends now. I'm sure as hell not amused. I'm going to leave and make certain that I don't get any more notifications on this. If you want to keep digging at it for your own amusement and make a spectacle of yourself, go for it.
  8. Look. You didn't make these forums and you don't own them either. You don't have exclusive right or control over who visits this forum. If I ever discover a cataclysmic issue that will most likely affect a majority of residents, I'll file a report where it belongs through the appropriate channels. Now, please. Stop trolling me.
  9. I came here to leave a suggestion and offered my reasons for it. I respectfully requested of those who really know what they are doing to give it consideration. It certainly wasn't any childish demand. I did not come here to ask for opinions on whether or not it can be done. I did not come here to ask for suggestions to fix a technical issue which I personally do not have. I did not come here to ask for an education about Chromebooks. I certainly didn't come here to be hammered with attitudes and honestly, I'm not surprised because it is typical, I know all too well SL is primarily user generated content. I've done my share of it well over 10 years whether you believe me or not. Probably longer than some of you and it wasn't to make a living off of it.as some of you. Trust me, I'm no threat to you. I don't profess to know everything, so don't make the mistake of assuming I came here with that mentality. I do know however, what data is and how it is transmitted and received. I do know the difference between cable, fiber optic, DSL, Satellite and Wi-Fi. (No point in mentioning dial-up). I have experienced them all. Imagine where you would be right now if SL didn't grow or change since it began.
  10. For the sarcasm, keep laughing chuckles. We'll see who's laughing when it's done. So just stay out of my topic from now on. This isn't your call on what you think will or won't work.
  11. Understood. However these things are more than just mobile. There is a big difference. This is why I am sure LL can come up with something specific for them.
  12. I get the distinct impression you don't use any current model of Chromebook. They are far more than "big phones", especially the more recent ones.
  13. THAT is what I want to see. It is with gratitude, I thank you for that information..
  14. I'm not asking that the default SL viewer be run on a chromebook in consideration of its limitations. I am saying the developers are talented enough to make a viewer that WILL run on Chromebook Exclusive of the default viewer. This is in disregard to previous posts arguing that "it can't be done". I am not interested in "no". I'm saying it can be done and it would be of their financial interest of potential income to be able to do it.
  15. I've read posts dating back to 2018 (possibly older) which basically said you can't run SL on a Chromebook. The most polite was simply, "No". Besides the fact it struck me as hostile responses and "elitist", I have to say I'm not satisfied with the responses nor am I happy to know such condescending and elitist attitudes continue to exist in this present day and age. I hoped those SL residents who demonstrated such appalling behavior would have been more helpful, but that was not the case. One exception was someone who set it up to run on the Linux side of Chromebook with Firestorm being used intead of the default SL viewer. That post dated back to 2019 if I recall correctly. That person posted a video of the process on YouTube. Needless to say, I could not find such helpful information in these forums. Here is my point. I seriously believe the developers are far more talented than they are given credit for. It is 2022 now and hearing about the migration to cloud raises more interest in relation to Chromebook since they usually rely upon cloud storage. I think this is a prime opportunity for the developers to create a viewer that can be run on a Chromebook (Google Chrome OS) without all the hassle of setting up a different resident OS such as Linux. (No disrespect is intended toward Linux). This is not for me specifically since I use Windows 11 on a custom built PC. It is however intended for my "Significant Other" since she is limited to a mobile phone and the new 2022 Chromebook she now has. We wish to share the experience of SL together which would provide us an avenue to date each other while we continue development our relationship. SL is the perfect platform for this. I am certain there are many more people who would have more interest in SL if they were simply able to download a client specifically made for Chromebook. Personally, I believe you can do it. I hope you will consider this. I'm just one of your clients who's been around since the early days of SL under the name of Dolph Gehlbard.
