  1. Not sure what's confusing about my answer. If someone wants to keep their name, they can delete their inventory, avatar, etc. and pretend they're starting from scratch.

  2. I'm sure I've seen Pokemon avatars and decor, they just use other names. I'll try to remember to message you when I next see them. It could help if you join a Pokemon fan group, they'll probably know where you can find them!

  3. If we can cancel a best rate order, do we get the transaction fee back? (I know it's a small amount for many people but I don't have a lot so it's still cash to me.)

I placed an order using the suggested best rate buy, 250 l for 1 $. It said the estimate was 3 days, however, I discovered later how to see the open orders and there's lots more open ones for 249 and 248 so I'm starting to lose hope that I'll get my linden at all. Can I trust the estimate? Can I just change the rate on my order?

This whole process is confusing, I wish things would be clearer for people who don't have a lot of experience with it.

    Thank you.

Well, the lowest price seems to be 40 L and the highest 1000 L. I consider that as helpful information. Except if the price doesn't matter for you.

Still not sure what you mean. That doesn't mean it is (or isn't) an avatar. Some non-avatar objects in gachas can be worth more than gacha avatars if they're rarer or more sought after.

Message one of the people who have it up on the MP.  Can't hurt to ask where it's from.

Will do, though I'd rather avoid getting scam replies... I was hoping someone familiar with this gacha would be able to chime in. I'll see what different merchants say.

See how many merchants are offering these creatures. And how different the prices are.  Snoobs

The prices seem pretty standard for gachas and based on rarity so unfortunately it doesn't help much :(

They look quite interesting! You could write to the creator in world and ask. I think they 'could' be little trinkets, but they are definitely neat.

I have no idea who the creator is, unfortunately! I know they're a gacha but I don't know the original creator's username :(

The description on the pictures says rigged mesh avatars.

It says the rare ones are, but I don't know if the common ones are supposed to be avatars or just decorative items (it mentions they're rezzable)

  8. I'm looking for "playful polliwog" avatars! I've tried searching the marketplace but I'm only finding rares, plus it's hard to search for since the spelling varies by seller. Does anyone know if they're been resold in world somewhere? Or if the gacha still exists? They're magic-looking frog avatars from a gacha. I'm especially interested in #14.

  9. Could anyone please point me to good tutorials on making either heads or full-head masks/hats? I've been searching and found one last night but it was really outdated. :/ Thank you!

You could try searching through group profiles, but that seems to pretty much get you the standard club type things: https://search.secondlife.com/?query_term=hiring

For blogging jobs (another kind of job I overlooked, sometimes stores/brands pay people to write (good) things about their products) you could check out the social media of the brand which would probably tell you if they're hiring.

This forum is the easiest place I know of to find/promote jobs though.

Thanks! It's a bummer since the forum doesn't seem to be very active overall.

I just saw this in community events.  Can't hurt to ask if they need another card reader.

Free Tarot Card Readings on Sacred Cauldron

Come see what message the Tarot has for you. We are offering free tarot card readings every Saturday from 2 pm to 3 pm in the library on Sacred Cauldron. See you there.

    Thanks, I'll look into it!

I think you could really do something with Tarot readings, you could make a freelance business out of it, I would even suggest maybe getting a HUD designed where you can show the cards you pulled in real life, in second life. I havnt heard of anything like this in second life so I think it could be a successful and unique business.

Thank you! I was thinking of making something like that once I've got a bit more Linden (to upload) and understand how to make HUDs better but I think it would be really fun!

  11. RunawayBunny, Thanks, but I know about these! My experience is similar to yours, it's usually pretty overcrowded and doesn't work that well for me. :(

Quistessa, I didn't mean to be vague, sorry! I'm not really into skill games and I've done some hunts before but I'll need to look into the rest. I've seen ads for escape rooms but I think they might be seasonal since there don't seem to be many at any given time. I've never heard of sploders, either.

Rowan Amore, yeah, I know about them! I visited Cica's new one the other day. I was thinking more along the lines of more gamier games :P

  12. What are the rules and etiquette around just changing the patterns of existing clothes? Are there clothes sold as bases for this kind of thing? How does selling/giving the item work? I don't have many 3d skills but I'd like to make a custom outfit using custom inages made by me. Thank you.

Best solution I can think of is to put together good free starter resources and lean heavily into getting users to make a small L$ purchase.

Hear, hear. I know that I'd be buying a lot more clothes and avatar accessories if I had a body compatible with popular/nicer clothes. As it is, a lot of clothes are compatible with popular mesh bodies that cost way more than I can justify spending. Give users free trials, maybe a starting amount of Linden. I know SL's goal is to get people to buy Linden, but it's hard to get started when you're new and afraid to mess up.

Well you can certainly look through the other posts on this forum.

You don't necessarily need your own land in order to run a freelance business. Photography is something you can get people to pay you for, if you have a good graphics setup and a decent portfolio, or really any type of content creation (Scripting, building, animating, rigging, texturing. . .) for SL can work as a freelance job.

In terms of unusual things that have dedicated sims, Some things I'm aware of besides the usual(DJ/Host):

    - medical/maternity stuff (there's a recent post about someone wanting a receptionist)

    - Party Stuff (There's another recent post about someone wanting staffers for their birthday-party themed area)

    - Voice acting (There was a someone a while back wanting voice actors for their art gallery or something)

    - Religious stuff (someone a while back wanted a preacher for their church. I believe that vacancy has been filled)

Hope that helps/ gives you some leads to sink into.

Thank you so much, this helps a lot! Do you know if this is the only place where people post jobs?

I'm not that great at photography, I think more roleplay oriented jobs sound more like my thing. These are really interesting and along the lines of what I'm looking for.

Stripclubs offer real life experienced tarot reader services. You can ask if the ones who offer this would be willing to hire a 2nd tarot reader. You can ask in the adult entertainment forum if any club would like to hire you for your services. You would set your own rates and a nicely done poster would announce your service, name and rates or to click for your info notecard.

    Cool, I didn't know that!

  15. I created mine a year or so ago and thought the whole process past making the actual account was confusing. There's very little in-world guidance on how to change up your avatar or the different avatar types. (In fact, I still don't have a paid mesh avatar because I'm not 100% sure how to choose.) It would be nice to get a mesh avatar as soon as you start, one with decent compatibility to help you get the hang of things.

I only vaguely remember the old SL (from the 00s) and didn't use it much, but I think the avatar creation process was a lot more intuitive. Even figuring out how to change your face right off the bat helped.
