I'm not a great shopper to be honest - after getting on for 2 months, I'm still running around in the free "Johnny Mesh" avatar I got when I joined up, so definitely take my perspective with a pinch of salt 😀

My understanding though is that this new NextUp thingy works a bit like this - please tell me if I'm wrong:

    1. Random thing is shown and available on "stage" for purchase - You know what you're paying and what you're getting.

    2. But, behind the "curtain" waiting to come on, might be something more lovely - more rare; the thing you've been wanting your whole life long!

    3. The only way you can get the current thing off the stage and get to look at the next thing, is by buying the current thing.
You might not normally dream of spending money on this current thing -  but now your money also buys you the chance to see if what's behind the curtain is the thing you really want.

If this is correct, then I do agree with the OP that this is just gaming the "new" system.
If it's not correct, just ignore me and go about your business 😀

Some people will spend money they don't have for something they don't really want just to see what's behind the curtain.

Feels a little bit like gambling to me.

As for the ethics, morality or not of the whole thing, that's not really for me to say.

However for people who err on the "if you don't want it, don't buy it"  side of the argument, I'd say it doesn't feel quite as clear cut as that (to me at any rate).

The question of addiction (in this case to gambling) vs personal responsibility is generally considered pretty nuanced, so probably worth a bit of sensitive discussion either way.

Yes, you are right. I don't want to spend any Lindens on the items I have no interest of buying. If I want let's say 5 of the 20 that are in the vendor I am bound to wait around for a very long time to get those 5. That is why I prefer auto-change. Fatpacks are often 3 times the value of the whole vendor content, Rare's included.

  2. I find it annoying that the Next Up vendors don't have auto-change of items. Players have to wait till next player comes along and make a purchase so the item changes, Or they have to continue buying even items they don't want. What's up next is  also randomly chosen. It would be fair to the player if it auto-changed every 5th or 10th minute and cycled through the items. The way it is now people are getting tired of waiting by the vendors or TP-ing in to check. It can take hours before someone is buying what's on vendor and it becomes an endess waiting-game. How can they possibly earn on that. Doomed to become a flop. Can Linden Lab step in and do something about it?

Just spent 15 mins trying to reach SL with no success, anyone else having this issue?

Been having the loggin-in issue for months but after recent update/fix I can finally get in on first try. Used to take me 3 before getting in. Noticed when VPN is enabled it is impossible to log in to SL.

  4. So it's been almost 3 weeks since LL sent my issue report to the technicians (25.11.) and a week ago they refered to it on their status page. "Identified - We've identified the issue and a fix is in progress."

Ok. so maybe there are other SL users who been troubled by the same problem and know of a fix. At least knows what the cause of it is.

Gyazo here is showing what happens when I try register an item in MP : Firestorm-Releasex64 6.3.9.58205 - UndercoveragentLevy (gyazo.com)

Getting this "The folder name failed to load. Refresh the paige to try again".

If someone had this issue and did manage to fix it, please let me know what you had to do to get it work again. TY!

BTW happens in extern browser tooo.
