Well, darn. Something changed out of the blue today and my settings went all wonky. Some of the things on my toolbar disappeared, and I had to go set it back up, but I can't remember how I did everything before. One thing that went missing is the ability to see song titles and artists in the Local Chat. It's gone. How do I get it back again?

I'll answer my own question in case the problem is encountered again by me or anyone else. I uninstalled Singularity and reinstalled it. Then I restarted my computer, as restarting a computer is well known for solving up to something like 85% of the world's problems.

Last night, I downloaded Singularity onto another computer here in my house. It kept saying "detecting hardware". I waited at least 15 minutes and nothing changed, so I removed it from programs. Then I went back to my main computer and found that I couldn't get Singularity to start there. It also kept saying "detecting hardware". It's still saying it now when I try to open it. Any ideas what to do to fix this? Edited to add: Now I'm trying to download Firestorm to try that, but it's sitting there with a Setup Progress window that doesn't move. The horizontal bar is grey. It says: "Processing: Initiializing..." Shouldn't there be some signs of movement? Everything else on my computer is running fine and fast today.

Last night while I was in a changing room in the sky, where I've been many times, suddenly things went all weird. I was trying on some free hair that I'd gotten on Freebie Island when suddenly I found myself with every wig from the box piled onto my head. I kept trying to detach and I'd get to the bottom of the pile only to find that there was a dark hair base on me that I don't want. By the looks of what I've been reading in my searching for help, that hair base is now going to be there forever??? A few other problems occurred, but the worst of them is that my avatar turned into a blurry pale green and white cloud that kind of softly swirls and undulates. I've tried logging back in to SL via the Singularity viewer I use. I have done some googling and also searching in this forum and maybe I'm not typing in the correct terms to describe my issue but I'm not finding a solution. Then today when I logged back in and found the swirly cloudy avatar, I received a message from someone telling me that nudity is not allowed in the place where I was. I was horrified, as I had no idea I was naked. I can't even see my avatar! I went back up into the sky in my changing room and tried to put on clothes and hair but nothing worked. I remained as the cloudy image shown in the screenshot below. Can anyone help me?

Thanks, all. I got it set up now so that henceforth I will be notified as to the song and artist. As for finding out what song it was that I heard at the time when I originally posted my question, can anyone tell me how I would go about contacting the DJ? I have no idea how to find out who they were.

What am I doing wrong here? Sometimes I can change clothes without a problem. I'm talking about items I've worn many times. Other times, it won't let me change. I click on "detach" and sometimes it won't even show me the word "pants" or whatever. It changes every few seconds as I click again to try to detach. I'll see the items in my "worn" folder, and can't take them off or put others on. Same goes for changing my skins. And sometimes my skins change for no reason when I didn't even change them! Right now, my skin changed to something awful (for me). I managed to get the option to remove all clothes so I can make sure I've got the skin I want, but when I click it, it doesn't remove any of my clothes. I'm using Singularity viewer. Edited to describe my computer basics. Not sure what all is relevant so if I missed something, please let me know and I'll post it in another edit. It is a custom build, done in summer 2013. It runs on Windows 8 (64 bit) Processor: Intel Pentium G2120 @ 2.10 GHz RAM: 8.0 GB Intel HD graphics My internet is high speed and a ton of it via cable. Screen resolution - I am using 1440 x 810

I am new here, slowly figuring things out. I use Singularity viewer. I went to a place called Freebie Island. I got a bunch of hair. I unpacked it in a Magic Chair up in the sky. Next thing I know, all my clothes fell off and I had 36 or 38 different hairs on. I tried to put my clothes back on but it wouldn't let me until I detached some of the 36 or 38 items. I went to my "Worn Items" and detached the hairs, but they kept coming back. I managed to sneak some jeans and a shirt on, but then the hairs all came back. It looks horrendous! Every so often, the Magic Chair quits on me and I end up falling from the sky without warning. I don't want to land on the ground without clothes and with a pile of wigs on my head. Can anyone help me? Edited to add: OK, now I managed to get the wigs off me ... not sure how... I was trying the same things over and over, and when I came in here to write, it seemed to have a breather and decided to work for me. ??? I put my favorite wig back on, but the "Chinese hair base" will not remove. How can I remove it? It's a black hair base and it pokes through under the platinum hair I've got on.

Hmm, I don't know what a "viewer" is, nor "Firestorm". I use this thing called "Singularity" to get into Second Life. Is that a "viewer"? Anyway, thanks. I'll see if I can figure out how to contact the DJ.

I went to an Israeli page of some sort, and suddenly there were what look like Hebrew letters over my name. How can I make them go away? Nothing at all against Hebrew letters, but I don't know for sure what is being written over my head and I'd rather not have it there unless I can read it.

Is there a way to find out the name of a song that was playing a few minutes ago on the streaming music? I was frantically typing lyric snippets into a Google search but nothing was coming up. Then it was over, and two or three more songs have played since.

My first attempt was when I asked a question in an old thread, and I'm not sure if that will cause the thread to be bumped or if it is still buried. So, I will copy/paste here: In response to what was said by VRprofessor: "Newbie friendly locations often have dressing rooms available. NCI South, Beach, and I suspect Kuula all have dressing rooms. White Tiger and Helping Haven do as well. Search any of these. There are several other places as well, although I forget their names. If you search "dressing rooms" in world you should find multiple choices. If you create and save outfits you can change those on the fly anywhere simply by replacing your current outfit with a different saved outfit. And, yes, you can change individual items almost anywhere--a sandbox where you open packages for example--but I suggest to newbies that they use a dressing room or find another private location to avoid unintentionally being naked in public. " I'm pretty new to SL, and brand new to this forum as of right now. I did a search for how to use the dressing room I just found on a sandbox in a place called Little Blue Island. Being a newby, I want to try out the dressing room. How do I go about utilizing it once I've found it? Thanks for reading. Hope someone can help me. :)
