I have win 8 32 bit. I'm going to add 2 more giga ram and I'm goint to try linux because I read someone has a better performance with linux and sl:more speed and stability. thank you for your support.

DDR3 costs less thank ddr2 according to me. But i will opt to update only 2 gb of ddr2 and not run linux because another user said a friend of him had problems with sl compatibility thank you for your help what do you think? i have found a seller here where I'm liviing .I will pay 30 for 1 slot and 2 slot 60 and i will have the option to resend back to them if the ram will not work and be refunded i will opt for 1 slot... I don't know about html5 and future ... so I think that will be the best possibility to update a little my pc. what do you think?

yeah you said cheaper And you need to add that i have to contact a pc expert for changing all... so motherboard + 8 ram + video card + pc expert hour to work on it. i could add ram and video card by myself What do you think of upgrading the ram to 4 and using sl with linux? need i also to upgrade my video card? i had a dual boot 10 years ago I remembered there was a software partition magic that it is very easy use to use... i did it also using dos but I forgot how to do... which is the best linux distribution?

I was talking about the video card because I could split money: basically updating my video card now and using sl with linux and buy later ram because actually wind 8 is not much in trouble for what i do

well it's kinda strange. I found out that my video card is very outdate, nvidia webpage says it is 256 mb http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-9600-gt/specifications but with cpu z software it recognizes 512 mbytes in the reccomend sl specifications they talk about these video cards NVIDIA Graphics cards 9000 Series: 9600, 9800Need I to upgrade my video card even using Linux ? what's your thoughts?

I don't have problems at the moment with win 8 is running normal(good) and even with sl, i set up to low and i can do anything and write fast but basically as I said I would like to know if adding 2 more ram would be befenicial to my pc because i m going to still use this pc for another 2 -5 years , i need it because before I'm going to buy a new laptop. regarding sl i would like to know if i change my video card will i be able to move from low setiing video to any level upper like mid or between mide and low....? thank you again and sorry for the requests and questions

what do you mean saying the exact same match ( could i opt for one slot with the same brand and same frequency or i need to buy all the 2 slot again?) i would opt for this video card :VGA ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 Core 1046MHz Memory GDDR5 5010MHz 1024MB DVI HDMI because ist is auto alimented so i don't need alimentation

actually i m using second life ans writing the message my ram isat 73 - 70 75 % from the task manager. now my cpu at 90 but was 70 85 max the last time. I have closed all the icon in the taskbar so for example skype and others software to maximize the usage of the ram. Do you think i will gerenally befefit from addding 2 more ram? it is worth the price? I would like to use the pc for other 3 5 years but as second pc and for surfing if sl will not work in the future. Thank you

what do you mean by saying If it's routinely swapping to disk? It takes a bit sometimes to run a software it is depending on the lack of the ram?

I'm using only one slot with 2gb ram so I will only add 2gb ram that will cost 30 euros.

I have not used sl for a long time 4 years. it was easy to find place where there were a lot of people. I would like to find places where I can have a discussion in english WITH VOICE because I want to improve my english(almost fluent), both with native speakers and with people from all around the world. do you have any suggestions for the first one and the seconds? it's very nice to use sl for debating...

i don't want to spend money at the moment I don't game I only use sl for english improvement. do you think my pc would benefit from adding 2 more ram even not considering (apart from) sl? are you saying that i will be more fast in writing messages? even if my cpu is so old? because i tried to change from low to med level quality... but i found out that it was using also more cpu ... what do you think? could it be stand a cpu so old ?

I have a dual core 2.0 mhz cpu, 2gb ram and a nvidia ge force 8400 gs... I'm using right now sl wiht a low level graphich settings I would like to have more graphich option and to change it to med level but when i do it i have slowind in writing ont the chat box. I would like to update my pc even if it is a old one. WOULD i benefit if i add 2 more ram? and if i update my video card? or sl depend more on cpu usage and if i change from low to med level i will also use more processor and it would be a lot slow... what do you think about it? at moment I'm at 60 70 usage cpu from task manager.
