Now that I SL live in a house made up of mostly SL glass and windows, I can't wear most of my SL hair inventory and have to start a brand new collection of texture-non-competes. Oh well, here's to more shopping. #SecondLifeProblems

The older homes let you use vertical space in great ways; the ceilings were massive-tall! Love those high ceilings.

My Williamsburg model camper in the Arvee region, was in the mood for fall forest earth tones so the decor is pretty low key for now. I love it, I can fish from my front yard, and the river drops down to a big waterfall, it is so scenic. (I'm not quite sure how multiple images will work in the posting so fingers crossed!) My favorite camper enhancements are the Jian owl and the lighted camp tower from Goose, the tower is resizable, scaled back the height a bit so it is not too obnoxious and from the tower there is a stunning view of the river sunset and the ocean. The room divider thing is made from prims, I'm hoping someone will make a nice skirted wood deck thing for the outside and put it on MP hint hint
Oh wow ❤️

When I used to live in the older Linden homes, and the Shareta Osumai homes were packed together so tightly that living outside was nearly impossible, I used to select the Tsuchi home (the smallest one, no staircase inside) and insert the shell and guts of a good skybox as the inside of the home. It had a kitchen and good walls, fun divisions already in place, skylights... It changed the mood and atmosphere of the whole place; it was not an attempt to adhere to the look and feel of the neighbourhood but rather an astonished gasp at how huge the Tsuchi house really was when you put other skyboxes inside it. There was a lot of usable space in there! My livingroom in Tsuyu, a Tsuchi house; there was a bedroom behind the fireplace and a kitchen behind the camera (and I wish I had a picture of it... so long ago though). It's kind of cheating, I know; it's not really decorating the house itself; but it's living in the older SL homes and really enjoying being there while I was there.

I think "almost paradise" is a good way to say it. It's virtual paradise (if you want it to be) and it's an approximation of paradise (if you want it to be) -- and I think I want it to be. It contains all my favourite people. It contains all our favourite collective activities. It contains the kind of magic I would love to have in RL but do not (instant hair change; instant travel; instant house built; another instant house built...). "Almost paradise" is a good phrase I think.

I think gimmicks in general are annoying. My consumer habits are to purchase what I enjoy rather than what I am manipulated into buying, because if it requires manipulation then I probably turn off. Sometimes there can be an experience added on to the act of purchasing (such as a haunted hunt or a group party thing) which I can buy into in the right mood. But separating items into different events would probably turn me off because the gimmick is "get to all these events and increase exposure to all these other shops" rather than "look how cool and creative this one shop is." I suppose someone could come along and change my mind but right now I am prejudiced against gimmicks, I would say.

My friends and I are going to dress as Downton Abbey folk as though Downton Abbey were a haunted house and there were a cadaver we're trying to hide, and no matter where we go or who we see we are going to roleplay this out and see it through 🤣

On a serious note, though, I'm glad you pulled out. Wish John Nobhead's father had.

From a friend of mine who was sitting in a Gor sim: "Is this the pinnacle of human accomplishment? I hope a meteorite wipes us all out."
It is an awful place full of trauma and ugliness, that Gor place, and for all of us who escaped I celebrate and thank whatever gods may be.
It is not the pinnacle of human accomplishment; far from it. And I hope that meteorite spares the kind and beautiful souls who were waiting to heal me at the other side of that awful experience. Since then, in SL and because of them, I learned fab skills, made loving friends, and left that awfulness behind.
The total opposite of Gor exists in SL and that's why I love it so much.
No meteorites!! lol nuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

And, although this is somewhat less of a rule, one of us will very often log on within a few minutes of the other, in large measure I suppose because we've been watching to see if the other is online.
Yes, same. Friends for years and years eventually learn the rhythms and right times.

I think it's almost paradise, rather for the landscaping and the tea-time company though ❤️ Idyllic builds and 'scapes everywhere.

Personally I don't care what it is called; it's not a title I wear around and it's nobody's business if I am a subscriber or not. The title of the package has no bearing on how much I want it. (I want it!!)
I wish there were a "Just for Me" package where Residents could design their own perks. Flat rate cost, 10 perks of choice. Double up on land allowance or triple up... yes to priority access and sandboxes but no to Linden Home and name change or whatever... totally customized every year depending on personal desires for that year. Call it what they want and sign me up 🤟🤟🤟
