  1. I've compiled a short list of book clubs in SL: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YWw07Va0y7zVWuQIWaxQtGSDOwqR3-eSrkT_t0Vi474/edit?tab=t.0 As someone else mentioned, the TNC book club is highly recommended! Silent Book Club in Second Life has several meet ups. Readers gather to share about the books they're reading, then spend an hour together reading their RL books. It's a nice way to meet fellow book lovers...and could lead to organizing your own book discussion group. Here's the current schedule for Silent Book Club in Second Life: 1st MON, 5PM SLT - 13th Moon Books Location: 13th Moon Books http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Woodland Hills/44/223/22 Host: Maia (maia.morningstar) 1st WED, 3PM SLT - Unbridled Books & Coffee Shop Location: Evergarden http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Crystal Shores/195/27/33 Host: Witchie (elaine.evergarden) 3rd FRI, 10AM SLT - Bay City Public Library Location: Bay City http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bay City - Imaginario/208/115/28 Host: Stable Mum (friendly.fairelander) 4th THURS, 2PM SLT - Sonder Books Location: Cerulean Sea http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cerulean Sea/46/126/30 Host: Emm (emm.evergarden) 4th FRI, 7AM SLT - VWEC Info Center Location: VWEC Eduverse Info Center http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/VWEC Eduverse/209/153/30 Host: Malia Rose (blumomo) 4th SUN, 6PM SLT - The Reading Room Location: Seogyeoshire http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Gundeulbawe/41/164/44 Host: Zoe Foodiboo
  2. [EVENT TITLE] Frl. Rhiannon's Class at Hindenburg School (school RP) [DATE] Sat. Aug. 1 [TIME] 5PMSLT [LOCATION] Hindenburg School in The 1920s Berlin Project SIM (http://slurl.com/secondlife/1920s%20Berlin/236/232/751) [LESSON PLAN] This week we're going to take a field trip to Clarrington's Bakery & Deli and get a behind-the-scenes tour of this marvelous shop! [OVERVIEW] This is 1920s school RP. However, even if you are not familiar with 20s history and culture, no need to worry. Just let us know in local chat. [WHO CAN JOIN?] Both kids and adults are welcomed to join the class. We're operating the class based on the concept of progressive education during the 1920s. [DRESS CODE / FREE PERIODICAL OUTFIT] We have a strict 1920s dress code, but free clothing for adults and kids are available at the entrance/landing point. [PHOTOS FROM OUR LAST CLASS ON JULY 25th] One of our classmates's home caught on fire in RL and he lost everything save the shirt on his back and his cell phone. Fortunately, he and his family escaped just in time. Rather than going on our field trip as originally planned, we decided to each write a letter to him to let him know that we're thinking of him. We all listened as our teacher told us about the fire. Then we all sat and wrote him a letter. You can read more about the fire here: https://joyardley.wordpress.com/2015/07/24/1920s-berlin-kid-needs-your-help-after-rl-house-fire/ We wish him the best and hope he can join us again soon!
