That appears to be a boot of some sort. Have you looked to see exactly what your avatar is wearing? That's easy enough to do in the Second Life viewer via the appearance tab (Tee Shirt) then the wearing tab that follows or through your inventory by opening the Current Outfit Folder. As far as seeing things on others... those are more then likely mesh or sculpt objects that haven't drawn in properly due to your connecting speed or LOD settings.

I can no longer send a message via my dash. It will let me type it in but the send button doesn't seem to be working. The send button is click-able but it doesn't respond and the message stays in the typing area.Looking a little deeper into this problem, I've found that my partner has the same issue. She also tried to send me a message from her phone and that didn't work either. Help with this would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I'm having sound issues with streaming music. This is a new problem that's gone on for the past two days. As is, I did a clean re-install of the latest Second Life Viewer and I made sure that Nortons is set to allow anything SL and the issue still exists. The only thing left that I can think of is that the rolling restarts were skipped this week and that might have something to do with it? The problem is, the music keeps cutting in and out. I'm not having a problem playing streams outside of SL, only through it. Update: As I said I've only had this problem for 2 days and since the Lindens did an Unscheduled Maintenance for voice... the problem disappeared as soon as they were done. Thank you both for your help, that's much appreciated!

Viewer Update 3.6.12.284506 seems to have several issues going on like asking me to update it every time I try to log in. Also something noted is that LOD has to be adjusted as it resets to the default 1.125 which isn't a good thing.
