  3. Hi Iyoba Thanks for the post and yes we have been quiet for a while, so my apologies about that. It was a mix of RL, I'm settling into a new job and it's been keeping my super busy trying to get my bearings but now that I have, expect a lot of upcoming activities and group thingies. Oh and while I'm at it, feel free to join our contest http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Upcoming-Events-and-Activities/Be-Inspired-and-Be-involved/td-p/2205737
  4. We invite everyone to contribute their photography or literary works to express your thoughts and feelings on the theme Motivation in the Middle of Crisis. It can be emotional, spiritual or physical crisis. Wether you're a pro or not doesn't matter, it's what in it that counts. It's a wide concept so feel free to cover a variety of aspects. For example, you can show us your photos/literary pieces on a certain problem you or people in general are encountering and a good way to find peace or solution towards it. We will present them in a gallery inworld and will ask people to vote the best piece. One for photography and one for literary. The deadline for entries will be on September 23, 2013 12am SLT after which we will display all your works and 3 days will be given for voting. Winners will be announced on the last day of the month and of course, prizes will be given. :) For photography, it can be in SL or RL then caption your entries i.e describe what the photo is about. For literary works, anything goes. All entries should be labeled with your SL name and please submit original works. Any other questions about the contest, send imalexiaandirock, 1whowaits and wisdomadvocate an IM. Thank you and feel free to visit us inworld. :) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Vampyre/83/38/1748

  6. Thank you, Sephina, for seeing the good in all this. I'm sorry to hear about your brother but I can tell he is in good hands, having someone like you to care for him. I find that staying positive amidst the little mindless things is what keeps one's boat afloat. It really takes a lot of energy to have so much negative thoughts in your head about yourself and other people anyway so I stray away from that. As long as you know you mean well, that's what'll give you comfort. Well that, and a little help from comfort food! He he
  7. For a moment there, I really thought you had an intelligent exhange going then you resorted to make things a little personal which made me think...why is this person so agitated about a cause to try to help others? Since when is doing good deeds without expecting anything out of anyone something to be crucified for? I am thankful I am one of those people who has faith in others and immature remarks based on unfair judgement, well, more like accusations doesn't go anywhere with me. It's amusing how one can be so quick to make assumptions when they don't even have the facts to back it up. We don't do 'services' as you put it. We are a support group. Don't make it complicated than it should be, because our aim is to be a listening ear, not con-artists. We don't have donation boxes anywhere nor have we asked money from anyone. I suppose, where you come from, genuine people are hard to find. So, I do know where this is coming from and I'm glad these kind of remarks are brought up so we can clarify it. I just hope the decency as a human is there. To ask if you need clarity, not attack the first red dot you see.
  8. By doing it how we've always done it. We had no problems before, our group discussions aren't as extreme as you think as in professional therapy. Trust is established because people are comfortable in our style of support. For our members, it's a case of really just wanting a listening ear and being involved in stimulating group discussions, sharing their feelings and thoughts. We set out limitations and realistic expectations beforehand.
  9. Thank you for the feedback, Dresden. I have been in SL long enough to know that there really are disturbed people in SL. This may be a long shot to be of help to others in this way but we would like to make an effort nonetheless. You mentioned about confidentiality and how one can use it against someone. There are certain precautions needed to be made to protect others, and we are aware of that. We don't condone people telling us any personal information and we discourage that. Again, I would like to stress that we are not psychiatrists and we do not conduct therapy. Any questions, you may send me or 1whowaits--not my partner, an IM.
  10. Dresden, All I can say is 1. That is another way to look at it but even I cannot have that level of paranoia in my head. It's too far-fetched for a group who just wants to help. and 2. We don't do psychiatric therapy and in no way are we to make a diagnosis. It is stated there clearly on our boards. We are here to support others by means of motivational topics via group discussions and counselings where we can help people into personal development. We're not forcing anyone to participate, if you feel this isn't for you, then it isn't. But for those who sees this as an opportunity to improve themselves, then perhaps it is.
  11. "Give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" is the group's motto. The group is for anyone really. From someone who wants a listening ear and a guiding hand to someone who has met struggles in life and made it through by getting the same support and just want to return the favor in the 'pay it forward' kind of sense. It could also be for anyone who are in need of friends here in SL. What do we gain about making this group, you might ask. Well, my answer would be...if you had the chance to make a difference in someone's life even just a bit, wouldn't you? We have been around for a year and have enjoyed the group talks and fun activities. We invite you to visit us to have a feel of what WFTW is all about.
