Then again, when I go to events and see so many jelly dolls at a 250K threshold I wonder if adding extra attachment points is really such a good idea.

    1) HUDS do not count in complexity and only lag the wearer not others.

    2) Sensible people remove the HUDS after they've put their outfit together (and also because your screen is covered in them).

    3) Those who theoretically are actually wearing 38 (and in theory 50 if it were increased to 50) would still be a jellydoll and would not affect you or anyone else unless you choose to raise your complexity setting.

  2. It's not a matter of wearing them all the time.  It makes it much faster to save all appropriate HUDS that go with the attachments with your outfits ... then you choose the colour you want and/or click the appliers you want for that outfit then TAKE THEM OFF because otherwise you can't see through the HUDS anyway.  38 is severely inadequate for anyone who wears a mesh head and body together with hair HUDS, nail HUDS, tattoo HUDS, lipstick HUDS, mesh eye HUDS, shoe HUDS, applier relays and so on and so on.  I'm constantly hitting the 38 and it's really irritating and time-consuming.  38 was fine when everyone wore system layers and hair that didn't come with a HUD but not now.  I think 50 is more adequate to our current needs.

It sounds like you are suffering from this crash

    - [bUG-3095] [MAINT-2876] [CRASH] Right click rigged mesh -> freeze/crash - Octree insertion failed, starting over from root!

This crash affects all viewers and only happens with certain rigged high poly meshes.  It also usually only happens when you are up at 2000+m strangely. If you click anywhere inside that meshes octree, the viewer will freeze in an infinate loop & you'll have to force quit.

I'm afraid theres no known workaround apart from to find which piece of rigged mesh you are wearing is the culpret and take it off.

This is the problem ... it's a collar - a really beautiful one from Red Mint - that i was given 2 weeks ago that is causing the issue.

Thanks everyone for your contributions and suggestions.

  5. For 2 weeks now my Firestorm screen freezes every time I right-click mesh to edit something my avatar is wearing and I have to "force quit" and re-log which takes 2-4 attempts to log back in - as far as I can tell this only occurs in certain places i.e. my skybox and my friend's skybox which is in a different region to my skybox although there could be more places.  He also has this problem in those 2 places.

If I use the inventory folder to obtain the edit option and I'm extremely careful not to click my avatar in any way I do not crash. If i right-click on a furniture item not attached to my avi I don't crash.  If I go to a sandbox I don't crash.  I am not using the Firestorm beta.  I am using Firestorm 4.4.2 (34167).

My computer is a 64-bit Windows machine running Windows 7 Home Premium and is not very old.  I have an ASRock Z787M Extreme4 MOBO and a XFX 7870 2GB graphic card which i have checked for updates and there is none available.  My computer is only a few months old.  I do not over-clock.

I have ADSL2+ cable internet which is stable.

Does anyone know how to fix this annoying problem?

Edit:  Added correct graphic card details

  6. I have the same problem.

Edit:  I should say that this is only with the in-game search - not the internet search and I can enter R areas and search for R areas that I know the name of but not search random places.
