  1. Ok, sorry for the confusion. I hope these imagaes help. This is 3ds max2011 but I do have 2014. Im not sure about the fbx version. I downloaded it about a year ago. The only thing that I might have done different than in the photos is changed the channel to 1. I have tried it on channel 3 also. When I was completely finished with model and texture then I collapsed all. I didn't delete anything. Then I exported the model and texture again. If u need other pics to help figure the problem out, just let me know. I thought I was doing it right from reading other peoples posts. Your right, I don't think it is saving right, Im just not sure why. Thanks for your help.:matte-motes-smile:
  2. As you see in the image, it is applying my map as a texture, and it is not mapped on the object.
  3. I have been trying to use a uv map and baking textures for my models in sl using 3ds max. I'm having trouble uploading these and would appreciate any tutorials that people know of. Thx:matte-motes-smile:
  4. ok, I found this tutorial on what I want to do, but when I upload the texture as he did, it does not turn out right. It puts it on as a regular texture, and does not map it onto the oject like his. Thanks for all your help.
  5. Since I found out that I have to map the textures. I went back to 3ds max since it is easier for me. As far as the texture goes, i can try to get pics later, but in world it just adds the texture normally as it usually does on an object, there is no uv mapping.
  6. I do believe I know what your both saying, but maybe not totally. You said the map should save with my.dae file, but apparently this is not the case. From what I am understanding it should. All the texture does in world is goes on tiled and not mapped. I am using a woodgrain. The render looks great. It is just not working in world. Idk, maybe I am just missing something.:matte-motes-bashful:

    uv mapping?

Ok, I thought I had it.lol I mapped my object which turned out exactly the way I wanted it. When I uploaded it to secondlife, under mapping I had no uv option. Am I looking in the wrong place? Do I have to upload the map? Help!
  8. Thanks all. I wasn't sure why this was doing it. Now I believe I can fix this.:matte-motes-smile:
  9. I unploading some vases I have made. When you look through the top the other side is missing. I'm guessing this has something to do with how I am uploading it. Anyone have any ideas that would be great. Thx.
  10. Thx. I will try that again, maybe I didn't do it right.:matte-motes-grin:
  11. As you can see i didn't have to zoom out far before they went wonkie. I beleive that all three of these have different upload lod and physics. So I am not sure what the problem is.

    Mudbox?

I know mesh is the way to go but the uploads are not working. I use blender and 3ds max. Please refer to other posts.

    Mudbox?

I was searching for a free sculties program, and found that u can use mudbox for them. I have it but never really used it. Can someone let me now what the add ons i need for this program and if they are free. Thx:matte-motes-smile:
  14. Ahhhh! This is driving me nuts. I simplified my design, which they aren't that big to begin with. I messed with the lod, it doesn't make a difference. I also double checked for the fbx file in 3ds max. My objects still go weird if I take one step away. Blender or 3ds max will not make a difference. Any other suggestions. I got it to work a year ago, but I don't see what I did different.
  15. Thanks so much this is a very good tutorial.:matte-motes-big-grin:
