Of those in the same Region as you? That can see that you are not Offline?
None.
They can indeed see your avi there in the sim, but an "offline" marking in your profile might be interpreted the same as "away" marking, or an indication that IM's are not welcome.

I doubt that it's impacting your social life. Even if you meet someone at a club (just as an example), and they check your profile, and it shows"offline" They are obviously talking to you and you are obviously not offline
Well my concern is that if they see "offline" in my profile they will not talk to me, and I've no idea how many that might have been so far.

There is no status displayed on your OWN profile to yourself. Never has been as far as I can recall.
Yes, that I have realized. Well if you can see my profile as online maybe everyone else can now too, at least I hope so. This might have been impacting my social life in SL, and I don't want that.

It's showing online to me
Ah! Thanks Rowan! Maybe it's because I unchecked that box for only letting my friends and groups see me online. I'll ask around.

Make sure to hit OK after changing anything in preferences
I have thank you.

You cannot see your own Online/Offline status within your Profile and any Alts you may have should be able to see your status properly if they're also in your Friend List.
Thanks Solar, I thought that might be the case, because I can see the profiles of others marked "online" in green, but that doesn't show when I look at my own, nothing shows in that field when I look at my own profile, so now I wonder how to fix it so I don't appear "offline" to others. I don't have any alts, so I can't check it that way, so I'll see if I can find someone to chat about with it and work on it.

Did you check Preference/Privacy/Only friends and groups know I'm online: Allows only people on your friends list to see if you are online? In 12+ years, no one has ever mentioned my online/offline status from reading my profile even when I have had it set to friends only.
You know, I just checked that, and I had it set to that too. I unchecked it thinking that might be the reason. So far two others have told me my profile is marked offline and I certainly don't want it to be. Need to figure this out so I can get back to my pistachios...

Well now someone else has told me that my profile is marked "offline" and it's not when I look at it, and indeed I have no idea how to do that, nor have I ever tried to. I just talked to someone at Calas who's profile is showing "offline" and she says it's not, so now I have to wonder if this is some kind of SL bug, and perhaps the large numbers of offline profiles I've seen are not offline at all. Anyone have any idea what might cause this?

Firestorm is bento enabled. Almost all viewers are at this point. Bento is a head that works with your shape sliders, much like your default head. That allows you to tweak your head, which can give you more of a look you like and is unique. Someone already mentioned Genus Project. They have a free bento head that is quite lovely, and you might want to pick it up and play with it to get the hang of them.
Thank you Mercedes, that is very helpful. I shall look into it.

That said, there's only so much help that can be given to users by other users.
I shall readily grant you that.

THIS.
Actual do go and try it though, don't just say you did and it didn't work.
You seem really quite unfriendly and hostile to me. I have to ask what I've done to make you so.

Firestorm finally started after the second clean install, as I was downloading the SL viewer. Well, I hope that's finished! Thanks everyone for your help.
-
I've done a second clean install, and still no luck. At this point I've done everything I can think of, and nothing works. I guess I'm just out of luck unless someone has another idea.

Oh no, I see it now, my bad ..
Still .. if its not system files, clean install the viewer. That should work.
If it doesn't then it's a wonder your mac is even running properly at all
Oh I did that already, said so further down in the thread, clean install didn't work, so I ran Onyx full suite, still no luck. At this point I'm lost for what to do. Onyx verifies my system is running right, boot device is good, nothing wrong except Firestorm will not start.

Well you didn't mention that!!
.. have you considered running windows on the mac? The same client on the same hardware will run about 20% faster (unless you're on an M1 .. then all bets are off)
Um... yes I did if you read the post:
Posted 46 minutes ago (edited)So the power went out while I was in-world, and when it came back up and my machines restarted I could not get Firestorm to start again. I restarted the machine, but still it just beachballs and never starts up. Now I'm worried that my SL files have gotten corrupted and it can't restart again. I'm thinking to reinstall Firestorm. Anyone have any suggestions? I've already restarted my Mac and it doesn't help.

The point: Run a system File/Disc Check. Operating system is irrelevant, do a search for how to do it for your OS if you don't know already.
Onyx does all that and I've already run it. It shows the boot device is good, and all permissions were repaired and all caches and databases were rebuilt, and still no luck. I called my local computer genius place but it's Saturday and they are closed, so I guess I'm out of luck until Monday.

Then reinstall your graphics drivers.
Dude, I'm on a Mac, not Windows.

reinstall firestorm .. in first try no clean install to see if damaged files get repaired. If that doesn't work, do a clean install.
I did all that. It still will not start and just hangs "not responding." I"m going to run Onyx and restart again and see if that helps.
Later:
Well I ran Onyx and restarted after running the full suite of repairs and cleaning and still no luck, Firestorm still will not restart.

I don't think any reasonable person believes we are the only species in the Galaxy. My assertion is simply that they haven't been coming here.
I believe they are coming here and have been for a very long time. You are entitled to your own opinion of course.

The report isn't a nothingburger. It admits UFO's (or UAP) are real. That they are recorded, often by multiple overlapping sources. That they can tell the difference between UAP's and natural phenomenon, and that equipment explicitly designed to capture high resolution imagery should be installed along side the existing weapon system that are picking them up.
The possibility of disruptive secret human technology can't be ruled out, especially unmanned. Messing about with such tech over or near military installations / deployments is exactly the kind of dickish thing humans would do, it presents a predictable known adversary and doesn't risk screwups (from either side) making a civilian mess.
It's never aliens, till it's confirmed beyond all doubt as aliens (and that's not something anyone should want to rush, them or us)
Squishing us would be remarkably easy, just nudge a comet slightly and walk away. We wouldn't even know.
Meh. It's a nothingburger. They have not said anything we did not already know. Moving right along....

Short answer, no.

The US Air Force and US government is coming clean and fully admitting that there are flying objects in the sky with technology that is advanced by thousands of years. These aren’t uncommon encounters. They are very very common every single day type of encounters.
Aliens are real. What do you feel about this? Are some of us aliens right now? *looks at Gopi* 👽
Well I'm pretty sure aliens are real, if we are alone in the universe it's a really huge waste of space, but I don't see the Pentagon admitting this at all, and in fact they have come out with yet another whopping nothingburger in their report. They have been jerking us around on this for over 70 years, and why would they stop now? I've seen UFO's myself more than once, and they were quite obviously not ours. That said, I am not at all worried about the aliens, they are not making any trouble. I worry about the politicians who obviously are making trouble.
It was said very long ago by a military insider "If they had conquest in mind it would not be difficult for them." Well we have seen nothing of the kind from them. We just see them flying around. I think we should just leave them alone and see to our more immediate problems among ourselves until they are disposed to make contact.
Told my profile is marked "offline" and it's not
