After yesterday completing the compulsory upgrade to; Second_Life_3_7_20_296094_i686_Setup.exe, I cannot start the viewer. It doesn't even reach the welcom login screen but crashes at "initializing VFS" ... I had no previous problems starting the viewer .. I can still log in using Firestorm however I would rather use the second life viewer as i find it is more intuitive for me ... I have not changed my computer specification. I have tried completely removing the viewer from my computer and reinstalling it ... same result. there was an error message the first time I tried to upgrade the software where the installation stalled with a message about the 'crashlogger section' of the installation hitting the retry or skip button had no effect and I had to stop installation ad re-start the process. does anyone have any suggestions?. ............................ Further to this question ... (edited/added later), ... thank you for the response "sirdarius42". I was aware of the third party apps. but I really like the SL viewer .. it appeals to my particular sence of intuitiveness ;-), so far the best work around, (and which has worked for me), was the suggestion that "Rolig Loon" gave here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/I-did-the-latest-update-and-now-I-cant-sign-in-it-keeps-saying/qaq-p/2863842 ... which I quote, ... If you do not like the idea of switching to a Third Party viewer and are willing to try an "almost beta" version of the LL viewer, I'd suggest trying the Project Snowstorm viewer. .... This worked for me .. (given that there are some stated issues with this beta version, - but I can live with these :-). Note: I uninstalled the latest download to "clean install" this Beta version .. but that didn't work ... I still got an upgrade message at the welcome screen ... however, when I reinstalled the latest version again, the Beta Snowstorm version worked ... so ... anyone who wants to try this method ... don't uninstall the latest release version that is causing the problems .. just install the snowstorm Beta version, side by side so to speak ... and hopefully you will have the same luck as me... (hopefully also, LL will sort the graphics problem out soon and we can all use the clean, (not Beta), release. Happy days!!! :-) ...................
