If another person prefers to "explore" by seeing what homes they can get, (playing with that house for a bit then giving it up to go get another) -- that is their choice.

Teresa's post about exploring via homes put into words perfectly the reason I have multiple homes and move around.  Each house and setting is different (for the most part!) and I spend a lot of time picking the house model, decorating and shopping, designing the landscaping...it can take me months to finish a home.  Probably time that would be better spent mopping floors or exercising :D    but oh well.  When I get a new house, it is exciting to see what the moles have built in the area.   Sometimes there are surprises uncovered by de-rendering certain trees, like a gorgeous lighthouse!!   It might seem kind of weird to be into virtual interior decorating and landscaping, but I am learning as I go, and picking up some useful building skills like how to re-texture items.   I am very appreciative of the themes the Lindens and moles have built for us, and look forward to what is coming next!

  2. On Water homes alert - I have two "Stilt Homes on Pier" that are actually way out Over Water, one is at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Good Tidings/208/76/18 and the other at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Seasalt Chip/164/46/18  These homes identified as On Pier on the receipt page, so I think, unless some coding wires are crossed, you will see them show up on the Land Page as On Pier...

Will release in 20 minutes at 11:15 am slt

(my alts are drowning quietly in the water underneath them.)

  3. Sometimes you don't want to know what is under a stilt home....at a home I used to have, the neighbor across the waterway had a very unattractive wraparound enclosing the bottom of their stilt.  I derendered it, figuring it would improve the view, and uncovered quite the collection of unsavory furniture and toys.  Ooops.  I re-rendered it, but the damage had been done, the view was never quite the same  :D

I use Singularity and do not really understand what people mean by having "the map open" - I see in the map the name of the region but not the names of houses / plots.

On Firestorm it looks like this, if you click on a home it will say Linden Home (no one has taken it) or My Sweet House etc. etc. if someone has claimed it and named the parcel.
